I just called to book our Feb 2011 trip. It was a big family trip but one couple got pregnent and can't come which made room for the other set of bil/Sil to wiggle out of coming!

Now all that is left is myself and my GF and her parents! Oh wait and the Neice and Nephew WITHOUT their parents!!!!!

What am I thinking?!!!!

I guess it would not concern me so much but they are little, like 4 and 6 (or something like that). This will also be their 1st time at Disney! I think Mom would want to see them at Disney but she will be home with new baby. Granpa is the driving force in all of this. He really gets into his grandkids and pretty much told all of us we were still going with or without the kids parents!

So I am thinking of adding on a few days to recup after they leave!!

Add the days for yourself, for sure!

We've had a great time for the most part when taking really young relatives. Started at just around 2 (staying on property) and all went pretty well.

Plan, plan, plan is the key. ::yes::

Oh, and loads of cookies. :rotfl:

Planning I am good at.:thumbsup2 An oddly enjoy! LOL

We have taken the nephews before and our godchild but never without their parents!

Cookies....... I can do that!:thumbsup2

If I were Mom I would not be happy. My SIL took my niece and nephew to WDW last fall while visiting her brother. My brother wasn't too happy as he couldn't make the trip. Lots of pictures with the kids at WDW.

Well, if you aren't crazy now you will definitely be ready for a padded room by the end of that trip. :rolleyes1

I know!! I think I am going to add on a few days at Yacht by ourselves after they leave!

That's what I thought. However she seems to be ok with it.:confused3
It is about the time that she has to go back to work and can't take off anymore time. Dad is just happy he does not have to pay! She did leave the kids on the last adult family vacation we went on, but that is so different then seeing the look on their face when they see the castle for the first time!

Be sure you travel with a notarized consent form for medical treatment, and get a copy of the kids' health insurance card.

I have personally never traveled with kids that don't belong to me. I have stayed HOME with kids who don't belong to me, but that is easier. ;) I always carry the medical authorization for my charges. Better safe than sorry.

I will ask my friends who travel with their charges what other things are important. We want you to be prepared for this little excursion!

As a healthcare worker, the signed medical authorization is a must have item, even at the pharmacy due to HIPAA.

As for adding the extra days, I would actually put them on the front end of the trip. That way, I am good with doing things the way that others would need to have them done, because I would have taken care of all of my "must do's" first and could enjoy the time with the extended family more. I get so excited about going to WDW, I can't imagine how frustrated that I would be knowing that I can't do it my way until the end.

Thanks!! I also think , in order to be prepared, I should order the bottle of wine with the meal plan!! LOL And maybe a morning at the spa......:goodvibes

Hmmm good point. I am going to have to think about it. I was treating it like I do when we goto Universal. We always do that 1st and then end with Disney. I do see your point.

Wine is good. Lots of wine. :thumbsup2
I disagree with Maggie. I would put your days at the end. I know for us, when we have done group travel I end up all grouchy and disgruntled by the end. I am angry that I have to go home after doing NOTHING but staying in a group for 5 days (or however long). I would want all those other folks to go away, and I could end my trip doing the things I want to do. Easier to put up with them knowing a reward for your patience is in sight. ;)

That's what I was thinkg too. I guess we really do not have any major must do's! When we flew down to buy dvc we statyed for one day, went to epcot and did not ride one ride! LOL I think, for us, everytime is really different.
( We flew down 1 day early before the last family cruise. We didn't just fly down to buy DVC.)
I don't know. On one hand if we go early I can do lots of extras for the kids (like get ears and candy from Goofy's) but if I stay extra I can decompress.
 Maybe I should do both!
