If our room key is on our park ticket and we use Disney transportation, if we get charging privilages on our key/ticket, theoretically that is the only thing we would need to carry with us into the parks right?

I don't know for sure, but I bet there are a few stands and places that only take cash. So I would always bring some cash just in case. But other than that you should be all set.

This is what we did in May - charged purchases to the room with the key. We were on the DDP too, so we really only had to take our "key to the world" with us. It was very convenient.
Haven't ever encountered a "cash only" stand on WDW property. Disney must know that most people use ATM/Debit/Credit/room charge for most of their trip, so it would behoove them to provide a way for people to purchase with those methods. Maybe the balloon sellers on Main Street only take cash??? I'm trying desperately to think if I ever saw a place where it was cash only???

A few things I always take with me. The room key/charge card, my drivers license, my insurance card (never know), my car key (we usually drive to the parks), $20 in cash, and my debit card just in case.
The popcorn stands and drink carts used to be cash only but the recently changed. You still may need cash for the glow toys at night or the carmel corn cart at parade time. I always carry a bit of cash with me as well as my driver's licence as an ID.

Last trip was a vendor selling Mickey's Premium in Frontierland and the machine that they use to swipe your card for the dining plan didn't work. I offered to pay cash but then she said she was out of them anyway. It was our last night there and I needed a Mickey's Premium sooo bad that I walked to Fantasyland near Dumbo to get one and then back to where DW was waiting for SpectroMagic(the vendor in Liberty Square was closed). So anyway the lesson is...if you need a Mickey's Premium fix you need to carry cash in case of emergency!!!!!!!!!!!
