DH is out on the deck grilling himself some lunch. He just opens the slider and asks me this...now, mind you, did not had any prior conversations going on.

"So, what was the guys name he referred you to?"

WTH???? I look at him and say WHO?

"Your dentist."

OK..so my dentist referred me to see an oral surgeon to take out my wisdom teeth. YESTERDAY, I found out he was not in my dental plans network. YESTERDAY..we had a conversation about me going to my own oral surgeon. My dental insurance does not require a referral.

DH does this all the time. It's almost like he is reliving a conversation we had days ago in his mind, but he is not aware that I am no longer a part of it. I am supposed to be a mind reader. He never names names. He just starts this random conversations, as if I had been a part of them all along.

(Just rambling to get to 10,000 posts!)

I tend to do that too. I usually do it since we were talking about something that peaked my interests, but they switched to something else. I get that look a lot. :rotfl:

It's a guy thing. The smoke from the grill shakes cobwebs loose from our brains.

I tell my DH all the time "If you talk in complete sentences I won't have to guess what you are talking about and we will both be happier".

His reply is "We've been married so long I think you should be able to follow my thoughts".

He has done this the entire 27 years we have been together and has not been able to break this habit.

Drives me right up a wall.

I tend to do this a lot, drives DH crazy.. He just kind of looks at me with this blank stare and I can't understand why he just isn't following my conversation LOL!

My DH does this, but when I am sleeping. Yes, I will be laying there asleep and he will come in and talk at me. About something either really important that I can do nothing about-politics, world peace, global warming-or unimportant like he put the dish in the dishwasher.
Thing is, he thinks this is perfectly normal-but, yes you guessed it, if I were to do it to him, he'd have a cow. DH is a morning person, and I am a night owl. Thinks nothing of falling asleep at 9pm, and I stay up till midnight. I'm up at 7:00, he's up before 6. Been this way for 25 years.
Geez.

I have to admit, I can be guilty of the same thing (and I'm female). It usually happens the same day as the original conversation, but not necessarily during the conversation :rolleyes1

When it happens I just remind my dh that if that's the worst thing his wife does he should be grateful.

:lmao: My entire family does this so it doesn't seem odd to me at all. DH has learned to keep up now and does it himself from time to time.

:worship: A guy who ADMITS it....OP my favorite phrase is "My crystal ball is in the shop WTH are WE talking about ?" Got to love them for even delayed memory

good luck with the oral surgeon..been there done that oh boy !

My DH does this too... "He" could be just about anyone -- "he called me yesterday..." "he asked me to go in early..."

I often wonder whether he thinks I actually hear his thoughts articulating the first part of that conversation... and I really think he does.

My DH will do the same to me too. But wait it gets better, with the exception of 4 women I work with all men. At least once a week one will call and ask me if I remember the email they sent me. I generally tell them my magic 8 ball is in the shop and can you elaborate some more for me. They then have the nerve to get all upset with me. I am constantly telling my bosses I have a total of 53 (including the one at home) husbands and not one of you listen to me. :lmao:

LOL, this happened to me once, but at work.

I was (for some reason) in the office answering the phone at school. I had called a parent (maybe why I was in the office) and informed them that they needed to pick their daughter up--she had a 101 temperature. The phone rings, I say "North _____ Primary School". The person goes, "So can she ride the bus home?"

No name, no how do you do, nothing. It was just by chance I recognized the voice.

Why not look at it as him feeling so connected to you he assumes you understand him completely? ;)

My mom does this all the time.

The most famous one was when she was standing in the room and told us someone we didn't know died. Right after that, to our puzzled faces she says,"That's what I mean," in a very concerned voice.

I'm still clueless to this day.

Ha, I do this all the time. Drives my husband crazy.
I've got to quit having these conversations in my head!
