I am predicting $70-75 Million! :thumbsup2 How about you? :confused3

I don't know, but we're going tomorrow to help boost the numbers! :thumbsup2 ;) :teeth:

what's the biggest opening weekend for a movie?

looks like Spiderman in 2002. 114 million! Whoa!

I don't think it'll get that high but it might make the top ten.

Spiderman [2002] $114 Million
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone [2001] $113.4 Million
The Lost World: Jurassic Park [1997] $72.1 Million *
Planet of the Apes [2001] $68.5 Million *
The Mummy Returns [2001] $68.1 Million
Rush Hour 2 [2001] $67.4 Million *
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace [1999] $64.8 Million *
Pearl Harbour [2001] $59.1 Million
Hannibal [2001] $58.0 Million
Mission: Impossible 2 [2000] $57.8 Million *
Toy Story [1999] $57.4 Million *
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas [2001] $57.4 Million

I'd say it's good for #3 on that list.:earsboy:

Lots. We arrived at the theater about 4:30 to get tickets for later in the evening. The next 10 shows were already sold out. I could not order our tickets ahead of time, since I did not know when DH would arrive home and be ready to go to the theater. The last 3 shows were to late for us to attend. Can't go tomorrow but we will try again on Sunday.

Maybe I should change my prediction to $85-90 Million! :thumbsup2

This is the list posted on boxofficemojo. I wonder why it's so different? :confused3

Messy but it's interesting to see how much the final total was for some of these. I bet that Pirates can pass a lot of these!

Considering how crowded the theaters were where we saw it today (and loved it BTW), I'll say over $90mil, maybe over $100mil (although that might be tough since it's so long it doesn't have as many showings per screen as most of those other films).

I say it will give Spiderman a run for the top spot. I know 5 of us are going today.Jack Sparrow here we come. Heart be still.

We contributed our $$ last night! Matinee though so it only cost us $15.75 for the three of us!

OK, it's been announced that PotC2 made $54.9 mil its first day, setting a new one-day record...one of the online sites that had been predicting $104 mil for the weekend revised their projection to the $145-$155 mil range, shattering the old record of about $115 mil for Spiderman! pirate: Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Boxoffice Receipts For Me!
