So how is Test Track at rope drop these days?

We are going in late September. We have 2 days in Epcot, but I got Soarin' fastpasses for one day and FEA for the other, no Test Track. I was going to rope drop it, (directly to Test Track, no stops) but now reading some threads I'm doubting that plan. It looks like rope drop crowds form earlier since FEA, and we won't be in the front of the crowd, maybe the middle. How long of a wait should we expect? Maybe I should trade FEA for Test Track? Most of our group of 13 isn't really that interested in FEA.

We spent a few weeks at WDW in June. We didn't quite make rope drop, but got there at 9:10am a few times. We went straight back to TT. We only waited about 15 minutes, maybe 20. But when we got out, it was posted at 40.

We were there this past Sunday and were through turnstiles at 9:05. Went straight to TT and waited about 10 minutes, that's including car design. thanks to everyone about the great tip of using SR and going in the exit to design the car first! Worked like a charm and my DH and 10 year old DS went multiple times SR!

Can you explain this? Not quite understanding what you did.

I think you can rope drop anything but FEA relatively successfully. Our family prefers to get a FP for Test Track instead of Soarin though - the main reason is that in the event of inclement weather, TT closes and stand by lines are dreadful.

We will rope drop Soarin - and for late September - we may even have wait times with the 3rd theatre that makes a non-rope drop ride possible too!

My DD is there now. Two days ago she RD Epcot, headed straight to Soaring and was gifted with 10 minute SB line. I think that if you RD, with the exception of FEA< you will be okay at any attraction.

We had a PPO meal in Norway last August, did nto use through the meal but was out about RD time. By the time we walked to TT from Norway, the SB line was about 15 minutes. Not bad IMO.

We will at Epcot on Tuesday. I have FP for Frozen later in the day.

I am wondering if it better to do Soaring or TT at rope drop or close to it?

I'm wondering the same thing. I didn't realize you could go in the exit to design your car. A couple of questions:
1. Where exactly do you design the car once you have gone in the exit?
2. To take advantage of this strategy, do you have to ride as Single Riders, or can you still design your car by going in the exit and ride as a group?
3. When following your strategy, I presume you go through the line and then walk straight through the actual design area onto the ride because you have already designed your car - is this correct?

No, the point of this is that if you use the Single Rider line, you don't get the chance to design your car (you can stop and choose from a few pre-designed options). So if you plan to ride SR, if you go back in the exit "play" area - not back into the ride itself, but the area where you can race cars, view actual Chevy cars, shop, etc. - there are multiple stations where you can design a car (just like you would in the standby/FP queue) and load it on to your MB to use for later, then allowing you to actually test "your" car while still riding SR.

This does nothing towards lowering your wait time anywhere and is really pointless if you're riding as a group since you will automatically go to the design stations then. I know a few people have mentioned the possibility of (your #3) waiting in the standby/FP line and rushing through the design station portion (like literally walking through) but I've never been able to do that, even if I already have a car loaded on my MB. The doors are set to shut as the previous group walks out and the new group walks in so unless you were first into the design room and ran to the end, you'd have a hard time getting out the door. Either way, you would have spent more time going in the exit and designing the car first vs. just doing it during the normal sequence.

We did the single rider time numerous times last week, sometimes numerous times the same day. We were able to skip the ride design (by choice) and inevitably got right on the ride. That single rider line is a real gem, and frequently-- though not always-- two of us were in the same car, one behind the other.

And a hint from my husband: if you've designed a car on a previous time on the ride, it's still on your magic band. So you can scan your band, and your car stats will still come up.

Thank you so much!

Has anyone done singlnrider with young kids . my youngest are 8&9 . I'm concerned about finding them after the ride

In our experience, they use a single rider for every car or two. Your kids will probably be a minute or two ahead of you on the ride. Let them know to stop and wait in the first room they hit when they enter the ride.

We love the single rider for Test Track. We were always a little bummed by not getting the full car design experience. A while back another fellow Dis'r gave us the heads up about the design stations, and loading them onto my magic band before going into the SR line. Awesome! Can't wait to try it in 5 days.

In early June we were at the EPCOT main gate by 820a for a scheduled 900a opening with aim to RD TT followed by FP for Soarin. They actually starting let people past the gate at 830a with CMs "walking" groups towards TT and Soarin. We were stopped and held under Innovations until 845a then walked right up and into Soarin and lined up inside at the final doors that opened right at 9am. Next we went right over to FP Soarin. Now depending on crowds they may not follow same for when you are there, but still good idea if RP any park to be the 40-45 minutes before "official" opening time.

When our kids were younger, with single rider we usually did one adult first, then the kids, then the 2nd adult. More often than not when we do single rider we end up with 2 of us in the same car anyway though.

When you say "youngest", does that mean you have older children too? If so, we just make sure an older child/parent is first and another last in line with the younger kids in the middle. Even if that is not possible, I think it will be fine. We have never been separated by very many cars. I just make mine wait at the exit of the ride...move down the exit path to get out of the way, but don't go out until I get there.

Looks like me and the other poster above think alike! Think we must've been posting at the same time...

I am planning to RD TT and then head right over to Soarin afterwards as we have a FP for FEA later in the day. For the first hour of the day, what will the wait times be like for Soarin? With a 3rd theater, I am hoping that the wait will not be too crazy after we have RD TT.
