So how intense is Dinosaur (for kids)?

My 5 year old liked it... he also loves Everest, Tower of Terror and Space Mountain and requested to ride those much more often then Dinosaur again. It's dark but not a 'thrill' ride. He chose the 'orange' ride on Mission:Space, and loved it. I think it depends on the kid.

Kiddo asks to ride this one once every trip, but she presses one ear into my arm or DH's and covers the other with her hands. She also rides it with both eyes squeezed shut. I suspect she enjoys the speed and motion of the ride but the sounds, lights, animatronics, etc are way too much for her.

I will say that if your ASD kiddo is like ours and has a problem with the lines a DAS or FP+ is a must for this one. In February, on a low crowd day, we got into the standby line because it was only 15 min. Well that 15 min wait turned into 40 when a surge of FP+ riders descended and kiddo was in serious meltdown mode by the time we got on the ride. I'm glad we had three adults--me, DH, our Mary Poppins--with us to box her in when she got a bit handsy/pinchy/flappy/slappy. We agreed after that experience that we will never get in that line as standby again.

They used all the lowercase letters they had for naming "it's a small world."

You're supposed to whisper "it's a small world" and yell "DINOSAUR".

So you're walking with your family in Animal Kingdom and you're like "does anyone else want to ride (then get up right next to their ear) DINOSAUR!!!!!!!"

My 12 year old has just now opened her eyes a little on the ride. I have never gotten a ride photo with her eyes open. Usually her head is down. I didn't take her on it until she was 7 or 8. I don't get the fear at her age but she is definitely still afraid. She is still scared of the story on ToT but loves the drops so she rides it. Also this year is the first she has relaxed to enjoy haunted mansion - in fact she loves it! I had to drag her on it once a trip the last few years. She gets too tied up in how realistic Disney rides are.
