So how does a Brit get an AAA code?

I read in another post someone saying that they used an AAA code to get a good discount. I assume you need a house and a (car!) in the US. I don't suppose we can get any discounts with AA membership?

I think it was me who said that! You can use your AA membership to get the AAA code. Just call Disney or use a Disney-specialist agent such as Dreams Unlimited. They will reserve you a room with the AAA discount. When you arrive at the resort they will need to see your AA members card to confirm the rate.



PS - You can also use your AA card to get 10% discount off of food & merchandise at Universal Orlando!

We use the AA card to get discount at the city walk restaurants - I think there is an affiliation with ARC Europe which is on the back of the AA card.

We also got discount at our hotel in St Augustine with the card.

You used to be able to ask for an AAA card from the AA but they seem to have stopped that and tell you just to show your AA card.

Yes, we always used to have to call AA and get them to send a plastic AAA card to us. However, the new AA cards have the "ARC Europe" on the back - and it is this which is recognised by Disney and Universal as being eligible for the AAA discounts and benefits.

It does varies, but typically the discounts are as follows:

Value Season: 15% off of Deluxe Resorts and 20% off of Values and Moderates.

Regular Season & Peak Season: 10% off of Deluxe Resorts and 15% off of Values and Moderates.

One word of warning regarding the AA.
AFAIK all the other companies, RAC, Green flag etc.. give you support if you have an accident, i.e. towyour car to the nearest repaiers/Home and take you home.
the AA state that they are a breakdown service only and will not take you home.
there is a case at the moment where a woman on her own, was left on the side of the M42 after having an accident as the AA refused to get her home.

That is very true of the AA, they will move your car after an accident, but recovery is at your expense it is not covered on your policy. I think the RAC may be the same.

We joined the AA purely for the discount it gives us in the U.S.
Our car is already covered so each year we get the cheapest deal they have use it to cover my mums car and then use the card for our hols.
Our last trip we saved a lot of $$.
We used it for our stay at Ron jons resort at Coco Beach, Universal we used it in the shops, restaurants etc.
We used it at the Beltz outlet and saved a foutune they even let us use vouchers at the same time as well.
IMO it is definately worth it. Good luck

I'm convinced. I'm going to buy the cheapest single driver's cover which is £39 online. I now know that Mousesavers will tell me about Disney resort discounts, but how will I find out about all the others?

Hi, Just make sure you take your card with you and wherever you see the AAA sign you will get discount.
Most places have a sticker or sign somwhere and if not be bold just say "Do you take AAA "?
If I recall some places didn't even ask to see our card, some places did and we just said that it was the british card , we never experienced any problems , just discount Just remember if your booking accomadation direct don't forget to ask for the AAA RATE.

Not quite true. It depends on what type of AA cover you have. You can have AA membership that covers breakdown only; or 'Relay' breakdown service where they take you and your car home or to your onward destination.

I am an AA member and asked for (and got) AAA discount last trip and this year also by booking direct with Disney. I understand I will have to show my membership card at check in, but they didn't ask to see it last trip.

Those discounts are great! This is our second year booking a Disney resort with AAA discounts. Just make sure you ask for the AAA discount at time of booking because there is limited availability on the discounted rooms and they must be reserved in advace (as early as you can) - you can't just ask for the discount at check-in. Also if you're booking over the phone through Disney CRO make sure you say "TRIPLE A" not AA, otherwise they'll just think you have drinking problems!
