I have reservations for dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine in and am a bit worried that we wont like the food. The only meal that looks good is the Reuben. Has anyone eaten dinner here? If so what did you order? Would you eat here again?

I've never read anything good about the food there. Some recommondations I've seen is to have dessert or milkshake there if you really want to go for the atomsphere.

I think dining is so subjective that you really have to try it for yourself. We go each year because DSs love it. My husband really likes the dinner food; I'm not such a fan. I order the cheeseburger from the lunch menu for dinner, and am pretty happy. I don't like the fries, so will have to see about subbing something else for our January trip.

We ate there lasttrip and planned on eating there again when we go in January. We avoided burgers the entire week last time except at Sci-Fi and I will say the burger was delicious and we loved our meal. It was such a nice break from the hot day and the kids were great.

We are kind of eating there by default this time as we did not want to eat a buffet or eat at Prime-Time so our options were limited, but my son (8) is quite happy we are eating there again and we have no concerns.

I will probably order the burger again for dinner, but if not I am not really worried. It is like a Johnny Rocket's kind of place and I am expecting good sandwiches, not a gourmet meal.

I hope you enjoy it! :goodvibes

We went in Sept. and we thaought the food was fine. It is like drive-in food. We had a good time there.

I think the food is terrible here but we've dined here at least a dozen times and will be going again on our next trip. :rotfl:

I didn't like the reuben at all. The only thing we've tried that we thought was tolerable is the burgers (they are not great but you can eat them). The milkshakes and onion rings are good.

The atmosphere is fantastic.

DH and I feel we are in the minority and enjoy the food here. DH got the ribs and loved them. I got the shrimp pasta and thought it was really good! We enjoyed our dinner so much we called back and made a ressie for lunch later in the trip.

This same subject came up last week in another thread...do a search and you will find plenty of opinions of this restaurant. (Just for the record, we love Sci-Fi...the artichoke dip is soooo yummy, and the caramel cheesecake is to die for!)

Burgers/Onion rings/milkshakes seem to be a safe bet at Sci-Fi:earsboy:

I have yet to eat here (plan on it this upcoming trip and we are looking forward to it!!! ) so I can't comment yet on the food. But what I can say is that other places that I have been to that get a bad wrap here on the boards, I thought were ok.
So as a PP said, it is all speculation, if there is something on the menu that appeals to you then I say go for it, if you want to try it. If you like nothing on the menu, no matter what people think or say you will have a bad time.

I say go for yourself, don't ask for opinions and try it, see if you like it.
What I like you may not and vice versa!

Happy dinning! :yay:

We usually go every other visit. I typically get fries & a shake, sometimes an alcoholic shake if the mood strikes me...& in 11 more days that is just what I plan to do ;)

For us it's all about the atmosphere, and really the food is not at all that bad. If you like onion rings then this would be the place to get them. So sit back & enjoy, never hurts to try it once! popcorn::

We ate at Sci Fi last August, and despite the negative reviews we wound up enjoying the food and the atmosphere. The burgers were pretty darn good...so I would have no objections eating at Sci Fi during our next trip.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere. My husband liked his food, but I think I ordred the wrong thing because I did not eat more than a couple of bites of mine. I had the shrimp alfredo. I would love to go back and try something else though! It's a fun place.

We love Sci-Fi and eat there almost every trip to WDW. Burgers, fries, rings, milkshakes.....everything we have eat there has been really good. We heard alot of people talk negative about Sci-Fi before we ever went, but we are ones to try for ourselves and it's a good thing because we really love it.

We went for dinner and ordered burgers (from the lunch menu), onion rings, and milkshakes. Everything was excellent. Loved the atmosphere and the service would great. I would definately eat here again! The only reason we are not going back in Dec is that we booked Mama Melrose (which I am nervous about;)) for the Fantasmic pkg.

We loved it! Myself & DD18 had the burgers with both kinds of cheese & onion rings, my DS12 had the ribs & enjoyed them with 1/2 fries, 1/2 onion rings. The burgers are pretty good, not the best, but we were all very happy with our meals. :thumbsup2 My kids both had the milkshake as their beverage & again as dessert. They request to go back to Sci Fi every trip

We went on our last trip for the very first time. We enjoyed it a lot and are going back in January. We had a burger (we shared it) and onion rings. I LOVED the onion rings because they are battered (like a beer batter) rather than breaded and that is the way I like them. We also had a yummy dessert and I can't even remember what it was...except I do remember it was chocolate!;)

As PPs have said, taste in food is subjective. I think most food on property is so-so. My DH and DS loved the food at Sci-Fi. I had the reuben ;) and it was good. Not phenomenal but worth what I paid and better than many I've had at other restaurants around here. And the atmosphere was fun. I liked it. :thumbsup2 We didn't have ADRs wither, we just walked in for lunch.

If you go with the idea that you are overpaying for the same hamburgers that you can get anywhere else in the 4 parks at a counter service but have a really cool atmosphere, you'll be ready and possibly even find that you like it. DW loves to go there but I cringe reading the menu. If it weren't for the 20% discount with the Tables in Wonderland card (God I hate that name) I would put my foot down and we would go to a counter service restaurant and eat the same burger and fries with different atmosphere and less hassle getting a ressie.

Don't get me wrong, it is a must try place to see how you like it and as you can see, many overlook things for the fun of it so you may be pleasantly surprised and come back and tell us all how much you loved it, everyone likes to hear a good trip report, especially from somewhere they had a bad/so so experience from.
