Just back from a Florida vacation where we spent August 10-12 at the RP. The hotel was great...room was very nice...our first time there. Last time we stayed at the HR. I enjoyed the pool at night after a long day in the parks with the kids.

We saw the Blue Men Group on Friday the 10th. AMAZING! We all enjoyed...but a funny story....my 9 year old son has a very strong gag reflex, and during the mashed banana/twinkie scene, I looked over at him and he was actually throwing up the blue slushy drink we had just bought him !!! We were in the front row...so I guess the smells and the action was a little too close for comfort for him!! Poor little guy...he took it all in stride though...
I thought the show was phenomenal. I wished we could've seen it again...because the first time, I was just so mesmerized, I think the second time I would've enjoyed it more!!

Also, the FOTL access is worth its weight in GOLD, I tell you!!
I felt a twinge of guilt every time we were whisked to the very front of the attraction and practically had zero wait time!! The regular lines were unbearably long...I really don't know how people do it! We have two boys...one with Aspergers/ADHD, and we would not have been able to stand in the regular lines with him. I loved the MIB ride...and the Cat in the Hat...and Spiderman was amazing.

We purchased the food plan...which probably saved us a ton of money...but by the end of the 2nd day, we were sooooo tired of the few restaurants on the list. The lines were way too long and slow in some of them...and the food was mediocre.

All in all, it was a good trip, although I would not go again in August. The heat index was 128!! I thank God for the little battery powered fans we had. We also bought a misting fan...which was absolutely necessary. Night time was much better without the heat of the sun pounding on you.

Happy Travels to those who are going this week!

I don't see how people come down here in the summer except the kids are out of school. It's too hot to anything in the summer.

Glad you had a great time!

Glad you had a great time!! :thumbsup2

We visited in Feb. and stayed at HRH. We were there on a Friday and a Saturday. Friday the EP lanes weren't even open (low crowds), but they were open Saturday. It wasn't as "great" on Friday because we didn't get to use the EP lanes and feel "special"...prefer it in the summer...then again, we are "summer" people and love the heat!

How did you think RP compared to HR? I have stayed at RP and PB, but my DH wanted to try HR this time. (all these acronyms crack me up) I'm a little nervous. I really wasn't crazy about the RP rooms, but PB = :cloud9: .

RP vs HRH.... hmmmmm :scratchin ..........i loved the shorter walk from HRH, for sure! :thumbsup2 The rooms were pretty comparable....beds were comfy, bathroom was about the same size.....I'd stay at either again, but we prefer the RPR...cuz of the themeing..... Going to try PBH next summer :woohoo: (ONLY cuz DM is coming w/ us and we need the extra space.....othewise DH is not keen on taking the boats...he'd rather walk and it's much further :guilty: ...that's the only reason he's not "keen" on PBH)

We stayed at PBH in 2002 (for $145. a night :sad1: ). Absolutely loved it. One of the nicest resorts I have ever stayed at. Tried to talk DH into staying there again this time. It was only $10. more per night, but he wants to try something different. Why, oh why, do I let him be involved in anything. ;) I will say I am looking forward to being closer to the parks. PBH is quite a walk - and I hated waiting for the boats. (I'm not helping your cause, am I? )

Lovely report. We were there the same time, loved the hotel, fotl and being able to walk to the parks. Trying Hard Rock next year.
