It appears that the company that owns my firm has decided to buy one of our competitors and will be phasing my firm out over the next year. Grrrrrrr

So gotta get that resume dusted off - our days are numbered here. :(:(

Sorry to hear that. I hope things change and they decide to keep you on.

at least you have some advance notice. good luck. :)

monster.com has some really good articles on interviewing, cover letters, resumes, etc. i found them helpful when i was looking for this job. :)

Nope. 100% chance that I will be become non-essential personnel within the next 6 months. The firm they bought has an IT department that dwarfs ours, and we were already told that they would be eliminating redundancies (people).

It's ok, like caitycaity says, at least I know ahead of time and can plan for it. They may even have 'stay on' bonuses, so it could mean something for me to stay, but I dunno.

Sorry to hear the bad news, Jeff!! {{{ hugs }}}

I'm sure you won't have any problems finding a new job, you're very good with computers! Good luck, my friend.

P.S. You know DW would LOVE IT if you looked for IT work in Florida!!!;)

Uh oh. Sorry to hear this. I hope you find an even better job.

jfulcer,

I just tried to PM you, but ahem, that PM box is full.

Sorry about this. :(

PM when your mailbox has space.

Debbie

Oh bummer! I am so sorry to hear that Jeff. You just never know these days, no matter how secure you think your job is. :( My DH just went though a rough time at his work, and thank goodness he came out of it with a job.

Good luck to you and I hope you find something fast! I'm sure you will.

Sorry to hear that Jeff - you know I wish you the best in finding something that you will enjoy and want to do!!!!

Sorry to hear that Jeff :( I wish you all the best as you look for a new job. I hope something wonderful comes your way soon!

I'm sorry to hear about your job, Jeff. I hope you get a new job that you really enjoy very soon.

My best to you, Jeff. Sorry to hear that, but I know you will do well.

Are you coming to Chicago DIS meet??

Superdrat! But I know you will land on your feet. Wishing you lots of good news in the coming days to make things brighter. :)

Dan, thanks. I've already identified two companies that I have someone I know working for that are hiring, so I'm not totally bummed right now.

And yes, Brittany, Gael and I will be at the TLK DIS meet. We are leaving Abby with Gramma and Grandpa as we don't think she's going to appreciate TLK on big screen as much as we will. We're a go for food afterwards, but don't know about any other activities beyond that at this point.

Good luck, Jeff. And be sure to send your resume to DIS friends like me--I often get asked for leads by employers (including my own) for talented people with what I think are your skills.

Jeff....hugs and good luck.. hey maybe they will keep you on.. you never know.. but I hope only the best for you and your family.. :)

Hope things work out for you! Sending you some pixie dust!

Sorry to hear about your job, Jeff. Hopefully things look up soon for you.:D
