I have been trying to get a Crystal Palace breakfast for when I am there in Nov. One finally popped up for 8:15 on the day I really wanted and I went to go reserve it and it keeps saying my card is declined. There is no reason for my card to be declined and that is the only card I have to use. Of course it is too late to call and now the ADR is gone.

Anyone else have an issue with the card being declined when it shouldn't be on MDE? It is my VISA Debit card through my bank, there is money in my account, I used it a little while ago to place an online order and it went through fine and I have used the same card to book ADRs the last time I went to WDW.

I just booked a Chef Mickey's that popped up for the day I wanted in September--unbelievable as that sounds----the first time I searched it said there were technical issues. The second time everything went fine. When you use a debit card sometimes a hold gets put on the card. Places like hotels and some gas stations. That might cause your card to be rejected. Disney does not charge your card until you dine and tell them to or you do not show up so they should not have a hold on your card. And all it really needs to be is a card in good standing. So if the account has money in it and you did not use it for something that would put a hold on it I really don't know what could have happened unless Disney is having a technical issue. When I booked about 20 minutes ago I used a credit card.

The link between Disney and your bank may be down so their system could not verify your card.

Have you double checked the that all the credit card numbers are entered correctly and the expiration date has not passed? I would keep trying - it definitely could be a computer glitch! Good luck!

Had this same thing happen when an 8am Crystal Palace finally became available. I had the same AmEx on file that I had booked everything on. Resort, park tix and many other ADRs and now it was suddenly declined. By the time I entered a new card the reservation was gone. 30 minutes later I used that same AmEx to fill my gas tank. The good news is through persistence that same ressie popped up about 2 weeks later

I re-entered several times. I tried again this morning for another ADR and it also got declined. I double check my banking balance and everything is fine. When I get home from work tonight I need to call Disney and if needed my bank.

There was another thread with issues using a Debit card so I'd bet they're related. It seems that Disney runs a $1 check/hold on your debit card for making the ADR. Many card companies flag this as suspect behavior because if someone wants to make false charges on your card, they'll use a smaller amount so it's less likely to be noticed. Can't hurt to make a call to your card company and confirm that this activity will be expected within a given date range so as to not flag the account.

Side note: I made a $5 donation and got a text message from the bank asking me to confirm that I really made the charge. I'm glad they're being proactive but when making ADRs timing is critical. :scared1:

Call the bank first. Most likely, the issue is on their end. My guess? Your bank is seeing the "test" charge as being fraudulent. It happens quite often and can happen even if you have used the card previously in the same way.

I believe Disney actually runs a $0 authorization. Some banks, especially on debit cards, recognize that as potentially fraudulent activity and decline the authorization.

This is what people will do (that or less then $5) when they have a list of numbers and are trying to figure out which ones are valid. Enough so that it is to the point that banks are quick to deny them to protect the consumer.

By the time I got home from work it was too late to call my bank. I did decide that since Disney runs a $0 authorization I was going to try to make an ADR my MasterCard Debit Card that I have for my HSA account to see if that card worked and it went through just fine. When I did that test ADR for the heck of it tried to see if a CP ADR was available and I was able to snag one.

Good news! Glad it worked out! :)
