So frustrated with Platinum Loews First

Has anyone successfully upgraded to a kid's suite being a platinum member? I'm finding this whole thing very frustrating. I booked HRH with the PROBIZ rate through their website in order to get a kids' suite upgrade. I called and all ll they would upgrade me to was a king suite which sleeps 3. How is that an upgrade from a regular room that sleeps 5? Do they ever upgrade at any of the hotels to a kids' suite at the platinum level? Is it worth it to keep calling & asking? Or should I just cancel and resign myself to a regular room at the APH rate?

Thanks for listening! I guess I'm just venting because I just don't see what the point of being blue, gold, or platinum - it doesn't seem to get you anything lately....

I used Loews gold card to upgrade from a HRH garden view to a Deluxe room. Deluxe rooms are bigger than regular rooms and have a sofa with a queen bed pull-out. Thus a total of 3 beds with space to still get around in the room. Our family is five as well, the deluxe room means that no one has to sleep on a cot. I know it is not a suite that you are entitled to with a platinum card, but it maybe a better upgrade for you.

Best of Luck,

Dad of 3 -

Did you upgrade at the time of booking or at checkin?

Thanks!

At booking.

Platinum and Gold (not Blue) Lowes cards permit upgrades to premium (deluxe) room at time of reservation, if one is available. Supposedly you cannot get this upgrade if you use a AAA, ENT, FAN or other such discounts, however there are reports of people getting both the discount and the upgrade.

I am Platinum and received a King Suite at RPR when I booked a standard room at AAA rate. They said we could possibly receive an upgrade to Club level on arrival if any rooms were available. Not counting on that though since we will be there during the busy week after Christmas.

HRH seems to be the stingiest at upgrades I guess because they are at capacity more then the other two. The whole system gets me mad too. Why do they offer it if they give you such a hard time about it. Besides Orlando I have never had a problem, they graciously give the suites away.
PBH has been the best about upgrades to suites. I've had a kid's suite and a villa suite there.
Another time I called when they were sold out during HHN's on a weekend. I told them I was platinum and she said soirry, I read the rules to her and spoke with a supervisor. After going through about 4 people on the phone I gota room. It clearly states that within 24 hours you can have a room even if the resort is sold out.

We're gold, but I thought the upgrade was only upon check in. I'll have to let DH know when we book for November 2005. Thanks for the information!

We are Platinum Loews and have been upgraded to a Portofino suite at the time of reservation. We did have to book at the reg rate, $294. We love the 2 room suite and need the extra room.

Again just returned from Portofino. We were upgraded to a kid's suite at check in. Although the amount of space was wonderful, the room was very far from the club lounge and was a bit run down. Afetr walking to the rooom a few times I decided to ask to change rooms. They acually gave us two deluxe rooms because they were sold out of suites. I was very impressed. Like I said, we've only had this kind of luck at Portofino, sometimes RPR but never at HRH.
I ahve to say, I don't think I've ever asked at booking because I usually book online.

Cheryl, Did PBH comp you club level and a kids suite? I was told we could get a comp of either CL or a suite, not both. It sounds like you had a nice stay at PBH! Welcome back! :flower:

No, we had club level booked. We did have a nice time at PBH. I wouldn't say I would do club there again. I was disappointed in it. The offering were minimal compared to the other two. However, I love the grounds and the size of the rooms. I did like the club lounge the best of the three, it was the staff and offerings I didn't care for.
