Lots of links and ideas here so I'll just send a
My BFF has a severely disabled son, he is almost 6 and like Christian he is still a baby. He is a handful now, I can't imagine when he is a teen/young adult.
My aunt used to be a supervisor at a home for mentally disabled adults and she used to buy zippers and zip the top and bottoms of pajamas together for one of the men. If he could get inside his pants, he would eat the diapers.
Here's another place that will dye them in whatever color you want- and they seem inexpensive. I have never ordered from them but hey I might now that I found it!

This is similar to what I had in mind. I was thinking you could sew the waist of pajama bottoms to a lightweight shirt to make it one piece but you would still need a way to close it up while he's wearing it. Perhaps you could sew the front of the shirt to the front of the pajama bottoms and then put a zipper running horizontally around the back. It would end up as one piece but be easy to open and close in the back.
