So frustrated--a vent and a question?

Can you wrap his diaper with duct tape? We did that with the kids when they were into pulling their diapers off.

If it was me, I wouldn't pay extra for the tie die you can do that yourself very cheaply

Lots of links and ideas here so I'll just send a

My BFF has a severely disabled son, he is almost 6 and like Christian he is still a baby. He is a handful now, I can't imagine when he is a teen/young adult.

Thanks for the hug. Yeah, Christian is a double handful. Thank goodness he's sweet. Not a malicious bone in his body. Everybody loves him because he is just so pleasant, always happy and ready to hug you. :lovestruc However, he's now over 5'7", well taller than me, faster than me and stronger than me. The day is coming rapidly when he is going to have to live somewhere else, probably the next 2 years, because he is almost more than we can manage. We have a wonderful CNA who comes in every evening to help us bathe him and get ready for bed. If we didn't have him I think I'd lose my mind.

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions. :goodvibes I knew that my DIS family would come up with good suggestions.

My aunt used to be a supervisor at a home for mentally disabled adults and she used to buy zippers and zip the top and bottoms of pajamas together for one of the men. If he could get inside his pants, he would eat the diapers.

This is similar to what I had in mind. I was thinking you could sew the waist of pajama bottoms to a lightweight shirt to make it one piece but you would still need a way to close it up while he's wearing it. Perhaps you could sew the front of the shirt to the front of the pajama bottoms and then put a zipper running horizontally around the back. It would end up as one piece but be easy to open and close in the back.

Minky: I just want to tell you that I always enjoy your posts about Christian because you have such a positive attitude and you're obviously such a loving mother! :)

It might not hurt to look on Etsy too, you might be able to find someone to custom make something to your specifications. Good luck!!!!

Here's another place that will dye them in whatever color you want- and they seem inexpensive. I have never ordered from them but hey I might now that I found it!

Wow, they're a lot less expensive. I orderd two unionsuits ($19.98) and two dye packs (turquoise and red). We'll see how they work out. I think the style is perfect for his needs--he can't manage buttons and he won't likely tear at them either. Plus, I can always turn the suit around backwards if I need to.
Thanks for the link!

Aww, thanks.:lovestruc Christian is an easy child to love.

If you've never ordered from Dharma I can highly recommend them. They have the best dye's around. My SIL has been buying from them for years. She made her wedding dress, bride's maid's dresses and groom's men's outfits with materials she got from them.

I wanted to let you know I'm on a mission for you. There's a company that makes short sleeved/short pants versions of union suits but I can't remember their name. DH had their catalog - I've just got to find them. As soon as I do I'll post the link.

ETA - I've always loved your posts about Christian - you're always so positive. It's hard enough with my kids who only have learning disabilities, I can't imagine having a 120lb. 1 year old.

I don't have any advice since I have never been in this situation, just wanted to offer support! And offer !
