I have just found out that we, instead of staying at All Star Music, are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! How was it, sine this is the first time we are staying at anything higher than a value resort.

We liked AKL a lot. It was a very relaxing place, which was nice after spending a busy day at the parks. The pool is big enough that we never felt crowded even when there were a lot of people in it. Of course, you have Boma and Jiko (our best meal ever on Disney property) right there. We got breakfast every morning at Mara, and while it is small, we always found a table either inside or outside. I know a lot of people think the rooms are dark, but they didn't seem any darker to me.

AKL is our favorite. We love the atmosphere and the staff. The food court is excellent and there is always something to do around the resort. Others have complained about the distance to the parks, but we never had a problem. As for dark rooms, it fits with the theming and it isn't THAT dark. To us, it feels like we have really gone somewhere exotic, but we still get to go to Disney. My son loved Simba's Cubhouse and we went to dinner alone. We have stayed there twice and will be again in 40 days ( but who's counting ;) ) I think you will love it.

Weird. I just surprised my parents this morning with a resort upgrade. We are now staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge instead of the All-Star Movies. AKL is fantastic, you will definately enjoy it!

We stayed at AKL and it was a great resort. The animals were cool to see, it had interior corridors so rain or shine you were dry, all the info throughout the resort was cool, and the resort was really well themed and the atmosphere was great. My only complaints were that the resort itself was far away from everything and the food at the resort wasnt much for options. But otherwise I would say it was a great resort and I hope you enjoy your trip.

The AKL is our favorite resort. Take time to tour the resort and talk to the CMs when you first arrive. When you go, the Lodge will be decorated for the holidays. It is just spectacular. We will be there Dec. 14-19.

Good for you, have a great vacation.
