I have been looking for an aluminum Christmas Tree for years. We had one when I was growing up and I've always wanted another one. I see them from time to time but so many are sparse and small. This one on ebay was 7.5' and has 209 branches still in their original paper sleeves for protection. The color wheel comes with it and it's all in the original box from Sears, circa 1961. I saw it on ebay and someone was messing with me cause each time I bid, they bid immediately and overbid me. I stopped and left my max bid as the lowest price the seller would take-walked away. Last night I got notice that the other bidder had withdrawn and that I might win the bid. I didn't get excited because I've seen these trees go for $200 more than I bid. Just now-I got the notice that I won the bid!!! I have Mom and Dad's ornaments from their tree-all aqua, pink and silver. I may not get it up this year but next year I'm stylin with my new midcentury Christmas tree in my midcentury house. DH says I'm making the living room a movie set from the late 50's. lol! It's fun finding this stuff from my childhood. My brother is going to be sooooo jealous!!!

I love this! I like to buy old Christmas catalogs. I spent so many hours and days combing through them as a child. They are my flash from the past.

Cool! Post some pictures when you get it all set up.:goodvibes

Ooo, can't wait to see! Love the feeling of winning an ebay auction!
Btw-- someone wasn't "messing with you," they just had a higher max bid.
I.e. They put $200 as their max bid. You bid $150, they automatically outbid you at whatever the seller deems the minimum dollar increment is (probably $1 or $5, so the new bid would be something like $151 or $155) . You bid $175, you are automatically outbid at $176 or $180. Hard to explain, but I just didn't want you to think someone was purposefully messing with you! Just how Ebay works.

How cool is that? I want to see pictures too!

My mom just gave me our old color wheel...still in the box. I'll need to get an aluminum tree. And my dad gave me this heavy old tree stand from a friend of his that was going to throw it out. It rotates the tree and plays music. I haven't used them yet...although I'd love to!

My grandparents always had an aluminum tree when I was growing up. They always hung on red balls. And always had the color wheel.

All I can say is: :goodvibes

Congratulations! My Grandparents next-door-neighbor had one of these, color wheel and all. I thought they were SO COOL!!!

So cool!!! I had to look up what a color wheel is:lmao: Please post pics!!!
