Who else is super excited for Epcot's birthday?! The merchandise looks amazing!
http://www.wdwinfo.com/news-stories...ing-for-the-parks-35th-anniversary-this-fall/

We booked our FP+ this morning! Only 60 days to go! I am over the moon excited - we missed Epcot 30, so we promised ourselves we'd make it for 35! This will really be a trip-of-a-lifetime for us! We won't be able to make it back to WDW for a few years, so we are going all out! It will be the first time we are staying at the Contemporary - I've wanted to stay at "The Monorail Hotel" since I was 5! We are finishing our WDW vacation with a bucket list item - breakfast in World and.... dinner in Land! :hyper:

Some questions! For those of you who were fortunate enough to be at Epcot's 30th - was it crazy busy? Like not enjoyable crazy? How fast did merchandise sell out? Instead of making a rush to Soarin', do I need to make a dash to shops if there are pins/shirts I want (need)? We have 2 days set aside for Epcot this trip, so I'm hoping our non-anniversary day may be a bit less crowded, but I worry there won't be any more merch. As this is our first stay at Contemporary, is there a faster way to get to Epcot than the monorail? Don't get me wrong, the reason we are staying here is for the monorail, but if we need to get there super early because of crowds, is there something better for us that morning? Thanks in advance!

I hope it's not busy. I had planned on going to Epcot that day having no idea it was their 35th anniversary.

I do feel like a lot of people don't realize it's the 35th anniversary but I'd just go straight to mouse gear get the merchandise and have it sent to your room so you don't have to carry it. You won't be in there long so you'll still have a minimal wait to ride soarin. I would just take the monorail. I was there for the 30th and I honestly don't remember it being crazy crazy. I just remember it being another day there with maybe more summer crowds then fall crowds. Have fun!

For the 30th, there was a queue just for merch outside the gates that started a couple of hours before the park opened. At park open the queue was walked back to the shop by CMs. If merch is a priority for you, be ready to get there early and wait a while.

You may want to Uber or use the new Minnie Vans to get there as the monorail probably won't be running early enough for you to take it to EPCOT if you're wanting to get there extra early for merch.

Shucks, it will be a hard sell for me to get DH on an uber or anything extra. We are already using one for SeaWorld. I doubt I can get him to use it for Epcot - especially just so I can go spend $$ :rotfl: Do things sell out like right away? Did anyone have experience with super wanting something that was gone early in the day?
