So, does falling down the stairs count as exercise?

'Cause I literally worked my butt off with that one!

I don't even know how I did it. One minute, I standing at the top of the stairs, talking to Maddy about Halloween decorations...the next, I'm falling down down down and heard Maddy screaming for me. I literally knocked the wind out of myself, and it scared Maddy to death. I told her to get the phone, because I honestly thought I broke my tailbone.

So, I have a very very very sore tailbone and right wrist. I think I tried to catch myself as I tumbled down. Oh, and lovely rugburns down the backs of my legs because I was wearing shorts.

Oof!

Yes, it absolutely counts. Increased heart rate, bracing yourself (straining muscles you didn't know you have)...definitely exercise.

Bummer about the tailbone. very little can be done about that. I broke mine when I was 13, it still causes me pain every now and again. Ibuprofen can help.

Ohhhh, I'm so sorry. Sore tailbones hurt and rug burns are the worst :teeth: BUT, yes, it is excercise...it's called tumbling :teeth:

I hope you are fine, and have no lasting damage from your tumble.

I'd say it counts as exercise. At least your muscles feel just as stiff for a few days as if you exercised them hard after not exercising in a while.

At least your DD was at the top of the stairs. I had a similar tumble a few weeks back, and my DD9 was two steps from the bottom when I took her out as I slid on down. :faint: I did not drop my ceramic coffee cup as I fell, which is likely a good thing as shattered ceramic would have made the fall much more painfull. Of course, we'll probably have to paint to get rid of the coffee stains running the length of the stairway. :coffee:

I was lucky they were carpeted! If they weren't...I would have DEFINTELY broken something!

I've done that, man did I hurt the next day. Hope you feel better and glad your okay.

OMG Steph: :grouphug: That is horrible. :sad2: And Maddy princess: standing there having to watch her Mom fall down the stairs. I hope she is okay as well.

I did this ONCE on my back deck. I had on clogs, we had the slightest frost. The deck was icy and I just walked right out there, a cup of HOT tea in my hand on my way to the car to head to work....I was able to grab the railing but I just kept falling and falling while holding on to railing and COVERED in hot tea!!! :furious:

How about a nice bath to soak in???

Get better quick!!! :)

Ouch!
Keep an eye on how your ribs feel in the next couple of days. If they start to get worse instead of better, go to ER. I threw a rib out once by slipping on a grape in a grocery store & trying to catch myself (never actually fell down). Wow,.....never knew a rib could hurt so much when you try to sit or breathe. :grouphug:

Oh gosh! That is, beyond a doubt, the scariest thing ever! I did it so many times when I was pregnant that I got in the habit of making sure that one hand was always securely on the rail and I would STILL fall! Don't know how I managed it.

I cannot imagine how scared your daughter was. I hope she forgets it quickly and was able to give you lots of hugs and kisses and 'nurse you back to health'. I know that always makes my little ones feel better about a scary accident.

So glad you were not hurt!

OUCH!

I slipped down my carpeted stairs once also. Funny thing was that something in my leg had been "pinched" before I slid down them. I couldn't stretch & touch my toes all the way on one side when teaching my dance classes.

After my graceful slide down the stairs I was fine!!! :confused3 I guess I poppoed something back into place! :lmao:

My exercise rule is "if it makes you sore, its exercise" so I'm guessing yes!

Sorry that happened to you! Take some pain-killers cuz you are gonna hurt worse tomorrow.

:grouphug: Feel better!

I'd definitely count it as exercise, your heartrate was probably at aerobic level for a while.

I am sorry that happened to you! I hope you feel better soon.
