Carry my clothes for dinner on with me the first day? or can I leave them packed in my suitcase and wait for them to arrive in our room? I read that they suggest you carryon your clothes for dinner that night, but I am going to have to carry enough on without having to carry all that. What do you all think? We have the main seating for dinner and are arriving at port around 10:30 am. Will our stuff be in the room before 6:00??

I wouldn't sweat it....usually they are very good at getting the bags to your room before dinner. I think we got there around 11:30 and our bags were at our room by 2pm! And it they don't get there by dinner, Saturday is considered a fairly casual dinner because of the suitcase issue.

You should have your luggage by dinner time. BUT we had a very close call on our recent DCL cruise. We had early seating and most of our luggage was delivered by 2pm. However the garment bag which had all of my dresses in it did not show up until 5:15.

I was afraid I would be strolling into the dining room in shorts and a T shirt!

Like the others said the first night is casual. If you are worried about it you may want to pack a set of casual dinner clothes in your carry-on bag just for your own peace of mind.

On our cruise all of luggage was delivered by 3:00. It comes in piece by piece.

knock on wood. We always have early seating, and we have always gotten our luggage before five, so that gives you time to get ready. I suppose on occassion a bag will arrive late. I always try to mix up our clothes in our bags, so that there is a little bit of everything in each one. That way if one bag is missing, i can still make due with clothes for dinner from another suitcase. normally all your luggage will not arrive at the same time.

We will most likely be in Triton's for our first night. I really didn't plan on carrying 6 dressy outfits in our carry-on bag. Should I carry on the garment bag just to be sure we have nice outfits for dinner that first night? (It's our only semi-formal night on the ship)
See, here's something else I hadn't considered.

Don't worry about it, ALL the dining rooms are casual the first night, and DCL even announces that if you don't have your bags you can wear shorts to the dining room that night.

Most people have them in plenty of time for dinner. It is definitely NOT worth carrying on clothes for dinner that night. Just pack them with everything else and you should be fine. :)

When I cruised, there was a problem with our garment bag. We had gotten all our other luggage, but the garment bag with all my dresses and my daughters dresses didn't get found until well after dinner. Somehow the tag had gotten off it, and the delivered the wrong one to us, and once we gave that back, it took several trips to guest services to find the right one. BUT it all worked out in the end. Just make sure your luggage tags are on TIGHT :)

I agree with not packing dinner clothes in a carryon for the first evening. The overwhelming majority of cruisers will have their luggage delivered by 5pm.

We always choose Main Seating for dinner at 6pm and have not had any problems with having our luggage delivered beofre then.

Even on our first cruise when we arrived at the checkin at 4:20pm and boarded the ship at 4:25pm, we still had our luggage with enough time to change before dinner.

hope that helps

I'll just relax and let things happen as they may. (my 2 yr old tells me this all the time..."mommy, juss alax")

Lisa :)
