So Disney is planning something for MK's 40th on Oct 1st?

There will be a Limited Edition pin? Wow. Imagine that.
To be fair though..it does look nicer than the Limited Edition Groundhogs Day pin.

That pin is for purchase...I believe $14.95-ish. I hope there will still be one available by the time we get there just after noon.

I realize it's for purchase, but how many people go to Magic Kingdom each day? I would have guessed it's more like 15000, so I'm surprised the limited release is so small.

Hence my comment that I hope there will still be one for little old me at around noon! :thumbsup2

Little surprises in the park would be really fun. We will be doing the kids race that morning and then Wine & Dine half that night, so our park time will probably just be lunch. But at least we can say we were there. Maybe we'll see a little pixie dust.

I just read that Jim shore is confirmed to be there for the 40th, along with the artist who made the Vase (Kevin Kidney). Shag is a possibility too.

we will be there that day for rope drop!

Any well educated guesses as to where they will be sold?
I'm guessing all throughout the Magic Kingdom with a concentration in the Emporium gift shop. Although it does say Walt Disney World so they maybe all over property.

I'm in the same situation. I'm sleeping in that morning and will probably get over to the MK around 10:30 or so.

I hope you can get there earlier. Even if they limit the number sold to 2 per person, they won't last long.

I wish I could, but our flight gets in at 10:25 a.m., then ME to POFQ, likely cab it to Contemporary or bus from POFQ after check in. I'm hoping for noon, but that's optimistic! If anyone is willing to buy one for me I would be sooooo willing to pay them back at the 2 p.m. Dismeet. :worship:

I know I'm planning on being there around RD.... so if you can't find anyone else, I might be able to help you out. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I have a ADR for 8:25 am I would like a shot at one of these pins do you think I should go to rope drop instead?

My mom and I will be over there for a good portion of the week starting September 26 - Oct 2.
We're running the 5k, Oct 1 @ 7am which is going through Animal Kingdom and then volunteering at the W&D half marathon starting at 5pm.
If I had actually stopped to think about what date the 5k was being held I think I would've chosen to be at the Magic Kingdom rope drop instead, but I'll be in the 5k (I'll still want that "I was there" pin):guilty:
No matter what, I'm planning on spending as much time as possible in the Magic Kingdom that day, even if that means going in my sweaty 5k run gear :lmao:

Just read the Magic Kingdom's hours are extended to midnight on Oct 1st.

I'm checking out airfare right now! Gotta get me one of those Special 40th Anniversary cupcakes!

I actually would love to make that Kevin Kidney signing though.......

I hope they wow us with something.Just because it has not been announced that does not mean it's not planned. In fact I wish they would have unannounced surprises to begin with. A magical moment just for the people the went that day and not announced a year ago that would be great.

They probably just want to keep it low-key...they want to make sure this whole "Florida Project" thing actually works out before they go planning any celebrations! :lmao:
