So disappointed!

Man that blows! I hope you get to feeling better soon and hopefully there won't be any issues getting on the cruise.

On our recent cruise, our daughter woke up the day before with a fever and a bad sore throat. We had her strep and flu tested that same day to be safe and she was negative for both. It was almost worse because she couldn't take anything to help knock down the fever. It ended up being a bad cold which, for her, means 3-4 days of a fever and sore throat (from drainage).

We answered the form honesty the next day, she DID have a fever and sore throat. We were terrified, but were allowed to board. We explained we'd been to the doctor, had the strep and flu test, and what her pattern for a cold is. She was pretty miserable the first 2 days of the cruise, but it was better than being miserable at home.

Do be careful in the sun. I had a terrible burn from amoxicillin. They don't tell you but all antibiotics have the ability to cause sun sensitivity. Hope you feel better and have a great vacation!

You'll be fine very soon, and I'm sure you'll have an amazing trip! Don't forget to chuck those toothbrushes!!

P.S. Make sure your doc sends off the full strep panel, just in case the class of antibiotics you were prescribed doesn't work on your particular strain of strep. (Unfortunately, this happened to me a few years ago.) No reason to take chances when you're about to leave town!!

Twice this winter I took my 6 year old to the pediatrician first thing in the morning and both times he had strep. The doctor told us he could go to school the next day as long as he'd had two doses of antibiotics and hadn't had a fever.

Quick vent to get this off my chest. I sail Saturday for the 7 night eastern Caribbean. Booked opening day, so have. Been waiting, what, two years? Just got home from the doctor with a diagnosis of strep. I know it's not the end of the world, but I fly out tomorrow and want to enjoy the weather and Disney!

Temper tantrum over. Thanks for listening.
You can still go. After 24 hours on RX, you are no longer contagious.

You should be fine. The antibiotics given for strep work pretty quickly. My son has had it twice in the last 2 months and felt much better after one or two doses. Have a great trip!

Have to wholeheartedly agree with this. 2 years ago on the Fantasy 3rd night in i woke up with a red hot
sore throat. Antibiotics the ship doctor gave did nothing. Went to urgent care the minute we got off
the plane. Tried another antibiotic then ANOTHER. It was 3 weeks before i was fully better.

Fast forward to January came down with strep again...and what worked 2 years ago did not work
this time so did the antibiotic carousel again. Make sure you have trip insurance.

I will say even being ill and not being able to eat much on the Fantasy I still loved the
ship and had a good time.:)
