Ok, pretty jealous here...That is EXACTLY how I got my reservation! LOL!My husband works with a guy who's wife knows a member! So I know someone who knows someone who knows someone. And we were only able to get this reservation because the co-worker and wife will be there that day also and got us added to their reservation. After Wednesday, I will be able to die a happy girl!

Yeah, but you've been on this thread for over 6-years now and have nearly 10,000 posts. DISboards is a resource you're very familiar with. Maybe you've lost some perspective on what it means to not live on the boards. We don't all discover this, or other, resource(s) before we've already made plans. Some don't even discover it....ever!I think you understand my issue is not with folks being disappointed - I was disappointed about Matterhorn being down in August, and I knew about it far in advance. That is how it works out sometimes as we all know.
There are some people though who don't take time to read here or post here beforehand but somehow do find the time to post angry comments here after it is too late for them to change anything. No one here has acted angry so I am not referring to anyone in this thread. But those "I am so angry - my trip is ruined" threads happen regularly around here by people who have never posted once in this forum before that. Those folks can be angry if they want but often they have no one to blame but themselves.
In any case my post was not directed so much at the posters in this thread but to "newcomers" who are just coming into the forum (or might soon) and see this thread - to encourage them to pay attention to all of the things discussed in this thread and other threads like it - so that they can make the best choices for them and hopefully have minimal disappointments and surprises.

Also, few people plan their vacations within only 3-months. Most people need more notice than that for various reasons including making sure their workplace doesn't loose too many employees to vacations at once.
It's possible that what a newcomer will get from this thread is that DISboard vets have become cynical and will take it out on innocent folks looking for Camaraderie.
All anyone has to do before they go to the parks to know what will be down, is know how to use the internet. Simply search for "Disneyland closures" or "disneyland rehabs" and you will get the information. It's that simple.
It doesn't take experience on fansites.

Of course some people do not find forums like this until late in the game and they have made choices that can result in disappointment of some kind. It is the attitude of some of those new posters (not all - and really no one is this thread) - that wants to blame everyone else - that seems misguided to me.
Maybe I am different when I go into researching something. For example, we have been to Hawaii before but made our first trip to Maui in 2008. When I started doing some research on activities on that island I found out about the "best, most highly recommended luau on the island". Guess what? It was sold out by the time I called.
So I was disappointed. But I had a choice.
1. I could vent about it being sold out
2. I could be disappointed in myself that I waited too long to do the research and just sign up for luau #2
I chose #2.
So there you go. I do not think that makes me cynical. It just makes me have less patience for people with certain kinds of attitudes.
