So disappointed in WCC...

I know that I will probably get flamed by some for this, but I just have to relate our expeience last weekend at WCC. Me (29) and DH (33) met with some family friends (DH - 59, DW-52 , DD-29-friend of mine, DS- 31, friend of DH and DS-14) on Sunday, 6-19. It was our arrival day and their departure day, so we had to do lunch. After going back and forth (some members of the other family are picky!), we decided on WCC. We ate here once before and loved it! We were also staying at WL so it was convenient for us to have lunch here. I mentioned to them that this was a "fun" restaurant without explaining anything else. We checked in and were seated right away. Our server was as boring and bland as bread and water. She barely even cracked a smile. No jokes, nothing. We asked for some of the usual things like ketchup and a large drink. Nothing. I KNOW that I should not expect these things to happen, but it's so disappointing when the table next to yours is having a whoopin' hollerin' time with their server and you're all sitting there like lumps on a log! This was the other family's first trip to WDW and I think they were wondering why all this excitement was going on everywhere but our table. I tried to explain. It was almost awkward. The only fun moment was when someone different (a young man) brought our food out and made a joke about one person's buffalo chicken salad.

Again, I realize that I shouldn't expect certain things, but it just seems ridiculous that there is no consistency. Our server should have at least cracked a smile!! That to me is just poor service. She seemed to be in a hurry to get away from us.

Oh well, I just wanted to share my disappointment with friends. I don't think we'll be returning.

*** Oops, I should have mentioned that the food was just ok. In retrospect, we probably should have gotten the skillet, but we all ordered sandwiches and salads. I got some kind of turkey and ham on foccacia bread. It was alright. The others got salads and burgers; no one said much about their meals, but I assume they were ok too.

We were disappointed too but because our server wasn't paying attention to us...we, DH and I both ordered the AYCE skillet and asked for no chicken, just the other items, she brought chicken anyway....when it came time for DH to have seconds...he said no chicken just the other meat...once again she brought chicken....so there was quite a bit of meat wasted because she wasn't paying attention.

Now, we went back for breakfast and it was much better....

Yeah I think if you dont have kids sometimes at these places you get shafted. Last time I was there with just my mom and I and nothing happened. Even "tricked" her into asking for catsup for me. Oh well it all depends on the server. We did have the skillet and the food was good but that was about it. I agree they should have some consistancy to it if they are going to do those things.

Kinda off the topic but on this same time we had to wait over 30 min. I finally went back to the podium and asked why we hadnt been called and they said "oh we have been paging you" I showed them the pager... it totally malfunctioned. Worst part was we were not more than 2 feet away and the lady that checked us in didnt even notice. We would have been done with dinner had they not forgot to activate our pager. Geesh!

We too were disappointed with WCC. We waited and waited to get our table (it was this past January so I don't remember exactly how long we wait but at least 30 minutes). Then we got the most boring waitress and the food was just ok. With all the great restaurants at Disney we definitely won't be going back to this one.

Is dinner more "interactive" than lunch? We had an early dinner here, and while our waitress was not into the antics, we still had fun watching the others. A busboy made napkin hats for DS and me, the kids did the pony races, and when I requested a refill our waitress brought the huge glass out. And, as a BBQ nut, I PUMMELED the skillet. Could barely make it back to the boat.

The same thing happened to us on our last visit to HDDR. We have always had the most fun there with our waiter/waitress. This last visit the waitress had the personality of a turnip. :confused3

No flaming from me!!

We had the same experiences last year. No one in our family is asking to go back. Server was very boring- no jokes to us, or the table next to us. Those were the only 2 tables she was serving, so it wasn't that she was overworked or anything.

DD even asked for ketchup, and nothing. Only 1 bottle, about 10 minutes after asking.

Food was good at least. The milkshakes were great.

It's just my husband and I when we go and have always had fun service. The last trip was the best, Cowgirl Candy was over the top!

We were there the Friday before u were there. The service was horrible. We had a person in training. What was your servers name? Ours was an 1 1/2 hours behind. BJ(Who is training her and a hoot) kept coming over and telling us sorry. It was sad to watch everyone else having fun. We saw our server twice. At least some of the other servers came over and got us into it. Fun watching BJ trying to go a headstand on a chair and having a jumproping contest and stuff. Oh well I will go abck. :confused3

No flames from me. We've gone to WCC over 6 times now and I can see some inconsistencies from the servers. There are the servers who really get into the fun and just go all out like Bobby, BJ, Suzanne, Judith to name a few, and then there are those who really don't get into the shenanigans.

Also, I do think WCC has been hyped up to a point that people are expecting the outrageous every time they go. We've gone when we got the total treatment, from the ketchups, big glasses, big forks, etc to just getting a couple large glasses and nothing else.

I'm sorry you were disappointed in your trip there. I remember one time we were hyping it to my ILs and then we went for breakfast at WCC and they were having problems in their kitchen and we were moved to Artist Point. Well, they tucked us in a corner and we were pretty much out of the loop of all the fun. What a disappointment to my ILs since they really want to see the shenanigans. But they enjoyed the food nonetheless, and I think that's the important thing to remember is that you go to a restaurant for the food. If the food is good, then the rest is gravy, IMO.

I was telling my mom after drinking 5 glasses of water I was gona have to go to the bathroom and BJ said there is a large pool outside or if u really gotta go grab a fastpass at the front besk. I was rollin.

I do agree that things there are inconsistent, and if they are going to continue to market that restaurant like a silly place that is full of interaction, it needs to be done by ALL the waitstaff. They have marketed it that way by having it featured on the Disney food special on cable.

No flames from me.

I DO think that those of you who had disappointing servers should email the manager of the restaurant and point out that your family chose it due to it's reputation, and based on what was shown on tv, only to get a dud of a waiter and that he/she should really ensure the waitstaff is more consistent in their antics. That's the only way they will know what to change and why people are unhappy.

Hey all, I am a newbie and I don't know what WCC is. I looked on the abreviations page and didn't see it.

Thanks,
amy :confused3

One thing to point out--there has been a huge labor shortage at WDW lately. They jsut hired a ton os new people. Due to the shortage, a lot of people have been picking up extra shifts at places they don't normally work at. So you could end up with a server who normally works at the GF Cafe at the WCC, and they don't do the whoel spiel, because they aren't trained for it. As long as the food and service are good, you should have no reason to not go back.

Oh--and as far as the chicken in the skillet, those are all put together by the kitchen and the srever just grabs one--except for allergies and such, they don't make them up special for each table.

We had lunch at WCC this past march & while our server was not lively he was efficient & cheerful & believe me, there was enough action in that room to satisfy a 4 year old! :sunny:
We are a quiet family & liked our server fine while enjoying all the other hijinks We did like our food--I had a buffalo chicken salad & it was tasty & HUGE. DS16 got the bottomless milkshake & chicken sandwich, can't recall what else we ordered--
Now, when we went to the Primetime our server could barely crack a smile & was on the slow side--However, 2 other servers both waiting tables next to ours were hilarious--still a little ribbbing would've been nice--
Do try WCC again & request an outrageous server or let them know of it on yr PS arrangements--so sorry yr experience was such a downer!

We haven't tried WCC yet, too far out of our way usually. Besides, we are one of those families that just doesn't get the fun servers. Believe me, we try. Four visits now to Prime Time, and all of our servers have just served us. Well, the one last time did give us nicknames, but that was it.

Like I said the food was good when we were there and we will go back ... we are planning on going for both breakfast and lunch when we stay at the WL in Sept. The service was OK but I still think they should be more consistant because you do see all the other folks around you having fun and you're there like a bag of poatatoes. Oh well I will try again!

There are vey few "bland" waiters at WCC so I'm sorry you did not have a good time. Last time we were there, we waited over 30 minutes with PS and that almost ruined our meal but my brother asked for ketsup when I specifically told him not too and that got the evening going.
And yeah, you guys should've ordered the SKILLET. I'm from Texas so I know my ribs and those are some mighty tasty ribs and pulled pork isn't too bad either. Ummmmm, I miss WL :teeth:

We were there June 15th. Our problem was not the service, although we had a server that was not into it as much. We thought the food was terrible. The meat was dry and had no flavor. The beans and potatoes were good. Milkshakes were okay, but we could not seem to get them refilled. Out of all the places we tried this trip, we all agree this is the one place we will not return to.
