So disappointed at Disney

So let me get this straight, Disney has this crazy priced tea party that you may or may not be able to book and YOU have to call daily or hourly to try and get this thing they want you to pay for.

And this would be one reason some say planning a trip is like taking a second job.

Don't fret, you can probably wear your magic band.

Bumbershoot, I misspoke. It wasn't CRT that had the step sisters, it was the dinner at Park Place at the GF. The CRT had the princesses and we all loved it.

Just back from 10 days at the world, want to talk about foul ups, lol wait to you read the horror that is fp+

Agree, I swore last year we were not going back but I have tickets to use. It was a mess! There have been glitches before at Disney, but the fiasco with the FP+ and the multiple ride break downs, broke me down. I am not even looking forward to this trip because I know the frustrations ahead.

But, I am a lousy grandma, I would buy my own outfit from a coupon at the Disney store, do their hair up in a face lift bun, give it some sparkle and have tea in the England area keeping the $$$$ in my retirement fund.

.

I simply DO NOT LIKE the new FP system
That was the bummer of our otherwise MAGICAL trip last nov
I don't want to plan months ahead what ride at what time
also all the construction in MK and AK was just not good

My daughter in law has tried repeatedly to try and book My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party for a date in February. She tried on line and it said there was no information available. She tried calling and got the same answer. It seems the manager of the Grand Floridian hadn't put in the information. That is just unacceptable. Worse, she was told that, "since it's so expensive, not many people book it, so when the information becomes available, you won't have any problem". Now what kind of an answer is that? Emails to customer service, again, got the same answer.

No one seems to care to do anything about it. My granddaughter just turned 5 and we have the BB Boutique scheduled for that day and wanted the tea to be on the same day. My daughter in law is so disgusted that she just is going to forget the whole thing. It's just sad, that nobody seems to care to do their jobs anymore.

I think you are over reacting and making a big deal out of nothing. Your daughter in law needs to act more like an adult. The GF has done nothing wrong. The dates are not yet open and won't be until nearer the time. The hotel is not a park and have a separate schedule to manage. My daughter went to this tea party and had a great time. It was easy to book. No need to throw the toys out of the pram just because the booking window is not when you want it to be. Surely your grand daughters happiness is the most important thing? why would you cancel something that would make her happy! The only thing disappointing here is the approach two adults have taken, you should know better. A bit of patience from you would see everything work out ok.

Is she calling the number set up specifically for the tea party? 407-WDW-MYTEA?

Our FP+s and our Magic Bands worked perfectly.

Still a bit of a hassle, but the technology worked.
Maybe, it's a hit a miss. We had issues in March and read where another poster had problems last month.

My friends. I was just complaining because the website and a call BOTH said it SHOULD be available. It is not the end of the world. It was numerous calls with the same result. It was a very frustrating experience. That is all. If my daughter in law wishes to try and book this or any other tea at a later date, that is up to her. I'm sure we will have a wonderful time no matter what.

Thank you for all your posts.

I'm getting confused. I thought you couldn't find any info on the web site. I posted the phone number because I wanted to make sure your DIL was calling the one specifically for that event.

Yes, she did call that number and got no information and was told that no managers worked on the weekend. When she called during the week, again, no information was available.

Where exactly do you read in that post that her dil is not acting like an adult?

Someone at the business she contacted should have taken some intiatve and tried to find the information she needed or at least some kind of info. "Its not yet available, call back on xxxx" would be information.

We would expect that from any other company, why not Disney?

She didn't say she was going to sue or start a protest, she just said she was disappointed. I really don't see the overreaction.

I'm trying to understand this. The event should be available. To me, that means that the event will take place at that time. Now, the fact that is can't be booked at this point in time is a completely separate issue. Just because you know something will happen does not mean you can necessarily book it now.

As for the CMs who simply do not have the booking information, what are they supposed to do for you?? Make it up? Of course not. What else do you expect them to do? I'm sorry, but having the customer check back at a later date is a reasonable request.

I hate to say it but it sounds like they might be discontinuing the party, or that is is simply not available for the dates she is trying.

Do the CMs not have the ability to say "let me see what I can find out"?

To just say "I don't know what to tell you" doesn't seem to be good customer service.

Calling back isn't a problem but they should have, at least been able to tell her an approximate day of when to call back. And if they didn't know, find out.

It is a bit limiting at times, but we have never had problems with the technology. We've had the same Magic Bands forever, and just keep linking everything to them.

I had hoped that the FP+ fiascoes would be fixed by now. Not true?

If it makes you feel any better about your upcoming trip, our family's been 4 times since FP+ and we haven't had one issue other than not being able to get our extra fast pass on the app. We did that at the kiosk and it worked great. We love the new system.
