So disappointed at Disney

As MANY have speculated here-
It does not show up at ANY date after Dec 31 2015
It is probably being refurbished into another type of event
Disney is under no obligation to give consumers reasons why an event no longer exists until THEY are ready with the announcement

So why not just say that ? The CM doesn't have to tell her WHY anything. Just state the facts as they are presented.

My DIL did call back. Many, many times. After a certain point, you just give up.

I realize that it is not bookable right now, but as I have stated before, on their website and the call to MYTEA all said the same thing. "It should be available, but it's not" "The manager for some reason did not put in the information". The manager was not available to ask why not. It was supposed to be available 180 days from the time we wanted to reserve. It was not and so we will just book the regular Garden Tea or something else special for us.

Maybe it's not discontinued or revamped. Maybe Disney is raising the price but hasn't determine to what yet. Maybe more people go for the same price. Maybe they're changing the days it's held. Those are all guesses. Point is, no facts have been given to the CMs, ergo no facts can be given to guests.

I had time to check random days from now to February. Cast Members don't.

They don't have time?

The only way to book it is by phone. Its obviously part of their job.

There could be a billion reasons why the dates aren't available. But she was told that the manager hasn't put in the dates. I find it hard to believe they would tell the CM to tell them someone is not doing their job rather than saying it will be available again for reservations on such and such date.

I don't know. I mean if multiple CM's on multiple calls told her that I'm guessing that is what they were told to say. Probably isn't the best thing to say from a customer satisfaction perspective but I doubt all those CM's had more info and just came out with the same story by chance.

No individual reservations CM or group of reservations CMs has the time to research every single day to discover that no dates are available to reserve after December 31, 2015 at this time. They're working, assisting guests making reservations that are possible.

Such confusing pronouns. At any rate, how can anyone be told anything will be available on a specific date when there isn't any clue that the thing will be available at all?

As I have stated before. The fact is that the dates for the Princess tea states BOTH on the website and from Calling MYTEA gave the same answer. "It should be available, but it isn't"

As for my daughter in law acting more grownup? She has a high stress job, two children and a husband to look after. She doesn't need more stress from trying to book a simple reservation. We expected more from Disney. That was the disappointment. Like I said, nothing earth shattering. We will have a wonderful vacation and will continue to have more wonderful vacations at Disney.

I am glad to hear that most of the problems with the FP seem to have been fixed. We did have problems two years ago with the hand held but not from the kiosks.

I'm sorry but I find it offensive that you say DIL has a high stress job, two children and a husband to look after and doesn't need additional stress. So she is the only person who has a job and a family to care for. What about the CM's at Disney doing their jobs (you don't think they have a family to care for and a stressful job with people yelling at them about things they have no control over). We are all in this situation of working and caring for a family. Maybe her husband needs to help relieve some of the stress by helping with the children instead of her having to look after him. We are all in the same boat as she is, its the way the world is today and she is no different than anyone else.

I know from your other posts after this it sounds like you have worked things out and found something else to make the trip special. I hope you enjoy yourself and the family does too. BUT I hope she and you realize she is no different than most women today with a job and a family. Sounds like she needs the vacation and a hubby willing to step up more since she is having to look after him. :)

Oh for heavens sake. What I was saying is that my daughter in law doesn't need the extra stress of trying to make a simple reservation.

My son does do his part and helps her doing chores and taking care of the children. He also has a high stress job.

Sorry but CM aren't the problem. They tried to help but couldn't because the manager at the GF tea room was never available to try and explain why. Even if he said he was not able to help at this time. This whole thing could have been avoided if they took down the sign that said the Tea was available 180 from the time we wanted. The website could have just said Not Available but will be in the future.

My daughter in law NEVER yelled at any CM or anyone else. She was always polite and just wanted answers which were not answered.

Please don't attack people for just stating their opinion. My opinion is that Disney dropped the ball on this particular event. No more, no less.

Now we can all move on. Thank you.

I thought you said there was no information available on line? I know I tried to search for it on the Disney site, and came up with nothing. If it wasn't down before, it is now.

Yes I did say that the website said it was available 180 days from the time we wanted. If it is down now, it is a recent action.

Thank you.

First I didn't attack you. I pointed out simple facts that you yourself stated. I said many others besides your DIL have a family and high stress jobs. That is not attacking her.
You are the one who said she looked after her husband, which leads one to believe her husband (whom I assume is your son) isn't contributing as much as she likes if she has to look after him.
I didn't say your DIL yelled at the CM's I stated people yelling at them (in general). Assumption can be made if a person is dealing with all this stress outside making a reservation and making several calls and not getting answers that they weren't sweet and nice to every CM. I think we all have lost our temper whether we admit it or not with customer service people because we don't like what we are hearing.

I also looked at this as a coming down the grapevine. Only your DIL and the CM's/Manager know what was said on the initial phone call. Your DIL relayed it to you (or you heard it from your son who told it to you). You then posted on herre so it is reasonable to assume the facts aren't exactly 100%.

Disney is a huge place and things aren't always sprinkled with pixie dust all the time. They make mistakes like everyone and every corporation. It sounds like you found an alternative.

Enjoy your trip.

Actually I was there when she made the first of many phone calls. We are planning this vacation together like we always do. I wasn't there on the other phone calls.

As for taking care of her husband, she takes care of him and he takes care of her, like normal families do. Just a natural way of speaking.

As you say, we have found an alternative and we will definitely enjoy our trips.

Nobody else in this thread so far has an interest in booking this event beyond (or seemingly during) 2015; it's regrettable that you interpret this as "nobody cares".
Nobody is saying 'live with it', either. Not sure how you're reading that. Posters are making suggestions - and, okay, guesses - what you might do or why there are problems. Nobody knows the person or persons who make decision about what special meal events to offer, when. Having written that, it seems there may be a better than average likelihood the CD manager isn't [particularly ] involved.
Yes, it's supposed to be bookable 180 days in advance, and we're now just 157 days away from February 1. I checked every day it would be offered starting January 1 - and nothing. The Tea Room has NO hours posted after 12/31/15. None. If you absolutely, positively, HAVE to know the reasoning, maybe e-mal the GF GM? Or more likely the dining manager? Or do you know anyone who would go to the GF and refuse to leave until they get a satisfactory explanation?

I think she meant nobody AT DISNEY seems to care, not the other posters on this thread.

This thread is more appropriate for the resorts or restaurants boards where you might actually get helpful comments instead of the community board where you get 2 weeks worth of arguing about it. I'm not sure why it would have been posted here at the start. I suggest moving it.

OP- maybe ask over on the Restaurant board if anyone has got info?
Many frequent visitors hang out there

Nobody in reservations having or being able to get an answer doesn't mean nobody cares. Why do people think the TeaRoom Manager is the one who determines whether the event will continue? Wouldn't it be a Special Events department? Or at least the GF General Manager who absolutely can't be available for each question on demand?

Look at the bright side. You have six months to get the ressie by calling or sniping. You'll get it. Just keep your chin up. We're pulling for you.
