I was married on the Disney Wonder 5/22/09. My daughter got engaged last week at Epcot. Her dream has always been a Disney wedding or on the Disney Cruise. I can't afford much but she has wanted to get married with Cinderella's Castle in the background. So I'm looking at DFTW (just like who I used for the cruise). To make her dream come true, I'm wondering if she can have her ceremony at the MK with the castle in the background and a reception somewhere else like a restaurant with a private room to cut down on costs. Or does the wedding have to have a reception in the park right after the ceremony? Basically she doesn't want a 4 hour reception with dancing and drinking. She wants the ceremony and then a basic reception that would be nice. Any suggestions if this can be done; if so, where would you recommend to have a private reception like a sit down luncheon; how much would just the ceremony cost? Can she also have the horse and carriage to take her to the ceremony?
Thanks so much for any help and advise.

You actually can not have the reception anywhere in the MK - only the ceremony. The ceremony only package is $10,000 and includes elements like music and the landau coach. It takes place at the Swan Boat Landing to the right of the castle before park opening. You are required to add on a reception. Brunch minimums are $75 per person for food and beverage. There are several location options at the Grand Floridian including restaurants and convention locations. More info about the ceremony package can be found here: http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/weddings/florida/wishes/ceremony/magical/magic-kingdom/detail

Something else to consider, on the cheaper side, would be an escape wedding at the wedding pavilion. You're not right in front of the castle, but it would be in the back ground. :confused3

Sunset Pointe also offers a view of the castle, though you can't fit many guests into this location.

I'm sure if you call DFTW they may be able to advise you further.

Good luck with your planning.
