Hi,

We are heading there the end of August, just planned the trip the other day...

Where can I look to find a number to call to make advanced reservations? And, also, I am just so confused with all of the choices... I have read through a whole bunch of links, but find myself overwhelmed.

Any advice?

THANK YOU in advance!

Sherry

There's a lot to keep in mind when making your plans . . . are you travelling with children and what ages, what parks will you be visiting, how long will you be staying, do you have a car or are you relying on Disney transportation, how important are character meals to you. But keep this in mind: even if you go with NO plans, you're going to have an EXCELLENT time. If you take your best stab at a few of the things you read here, you've got an excellent shot at a great meal. Even the vets here who think they do EVERYTHING right have bad meal experiences though . . . they may be Disney, but they are staill restaurants and it happens.

Go out, pick up the 2006 Unofficial Guide to WDW, draw yourself a hot bath, and read over the dining section. it's concise, more objective. Or the dining agents as a whole are phenominal, they'd be more than happy to tell you what to do, how to go about it, what's hot right now and walk you through the whole thing. :)

Good luck, we're always here too!

Oh thank you so much! I had planned on picking that book up at lunch today anyway, so that is great that you mentioned it!

Thank you again!

You can also use the toll free number: 800-828-0228 This works for making ADR's, room reservations (and changes).

Hey fill us in on your trip and the makeup of people and this board will help you choose your ADR's, if you have a question about a resturant just let the DIS know and everyone will help you.... :sunny:

the first thing i do when planning ADRs is to figure out approximately where i will be on which day... the Unofficial Guide (UOG) has a website called touringplans.com which has a "best days" chart to help you decide which day is a better day for which park... of course, use the calendar at disneyworld.com as well to learn about early magic hours and such (more on that on the theme park board, and the posters there will help you thru this step if requested)...

once you know where you'll be, decide how much you want to travel for a meal*... our family is very easy to please so we typically prefer convenience over 5 stars... *i.e. when we're in magic kingdom we limit our choices to the restaurants in the park and at the MK resorts (monorail and WL)...

then peruse the menus in the general vicinity of where you'll be (menus can be found at allearsnet.com or the home page of the disboards) and decide which one is for you, taking into consideration the type of meal it is (character, fine dining, type of cuisine, etc)... and the type of meals your family will enjoy the most... we've decided that we prefer the family style all-you-care-to-eats over buffets... but it's quite personal...

of course, the last step is to post your plans here so posters can give you their thoughts and advice and start the confusion all over again ;)

Check out allearsnet.com, they have all the menus for all the restaurants, and that is a great help when narrowing down where you want to eat. Anything special you want to do=buffets, character meals, etc, Id strongly suggest making ADRs. If you dont have a problem winging things or mind if you would be possibly turned away from a restaurant if you show up without ADRs then its less critical.
