We are booked on JetBlue in September to Orlando. We havent flown anywhere for a couple of years now and I am now I'm hearing about things that are all new to me. Baggage fees? Will I have to pay this, and how much will it cost?

I also heard on the news that Spirit is considering carry-on fees too and all the other airlines may follow.

Can someone fill me in on what I should expect?

JetBlue allows customers to check their first bag under 50 pounds for free. There is a fee for the 2nd bag per passenger of $20. Yes, you will have to pay this.

Yes, Spirit just announced a new policy related to carry-on baggage. Whether or not other airlines follow suit remains to be seen. I doubt JetBlue would follow suit since they don't even charge for the first checked bag, but even if they did and added a fee for carry-on baggage before your trip, you wouldn't have to pay this fee as you've already purchased your ticket - you'd be grandfathered out of paying the fee.

Also in some cities, JetBlue has a $2/bag fee to check your bag at the curb rather than inside. Not sure where you are flying from, but here are the cities that applies to: Boston Buffalo Burbank Fort Lauderdale Jacksonville Newark New York/JFK New York/LGA San Diego Sarasota Syracuse Fort Myers
Las Vegas Long Beach Orlando Tampa West Palm Beach. You should still also tip. If you go inside and check your bags at the counter, there is no fee.

Las Vegas
Fortunately(?) JetBlue only has a small presence at LAS, and curbside check-in isn't convenient to the 'right' entrance - so it's easier just to check in at the counter. Cheaper, too ;) And that $2 per bag doesn't include the tip.

ugh, tips.

If you travel with one carry on and no more than one checked (under 50 lbs)you will have no fees for your luggage. If you want to watch the tv bring your own headphones or you can buy them from JB for $1.00. Also, movies will cost $5.

It's one free checked bag per ticketed passenger so if you are traveling with children who have tickets, you can check a free bag for them too.

I love Jet Blue!
