So conflicted about upcoming cruise

We are supposed to cruise on the Fantasy on Saturday. I am inclined to move it to later in the spring- we were originally scheduled for spring break and moved it up because of the SWDAS and an amazing VGT rate... but now I'm considering moving it back. It feels like there's so much risk right now... high likelihood of a cancelled flight creating major hassle, decent odds of testing positive at the port, onboard activities and ports may be cancelled, etc. But I'm so torn because I like the itinerary (San Juan - which granted will probably be cancelled - and St. Maarten) and am really excited about a Star Wars Day at Sea.

No real question. Just venting as I'm sure others are in a similar position. I think if I can get through the phone wait to move it, I'll question the decision but feel much less anxious this week.

We just cancelled a spring break (March) cruise. It just wasn't worth it for all the reasons you mentioned. I was sad about it, but felt a huge amount of relief as soon as we made the call.

My sentiments exactly. I was so on the fence for many weeks and was actually losing sleep over it before we pulled the plug. The sense of relief after moving our cruise later was absolutely worth it.

Are you sure you are allowed to move it? If you are booked with a VGT, I don't know that those qualify for anything other than the last-minute (within 14 days of sailing) cancellation due to covid exposure.

We're going on the Dream on next Monday and I'm worried, but committed to seeing it through as best we can. I keep telling DS that at any time things could go awry and we won't be able to go.

Totally first world problems but I've been home for most of the last 2 years - yes, I've been around town and to work several days per week. I took a weekend up to my dad's in September 2020 (4 hrs away), and I've been to visit my mom multiple times (2 hrs away)...but I'll be honest, I just can't take it anymore. We've done everything we've been asked over and over again...and I'm just done. So, fingers crossed, we'll be on a boat in about exactly 7 days.

And to Lanejudy's point, I don't think you can move it either except for a COVID issue. (Another reason I'm not rescheduling as we are VGT too).

I am starting to lose sleep over our 1/22/22 cruise on the Fantasy. One day I am optimistic and determined that we will give it a shot......then the next day I question my sanity and just want to move or cancel it.

I have been looking forward to this cruise for a long time. This was my "goal" to get me through a rough spot and I would dream about this on the days I felt like crap. My treatment team is urging me not to go.....family and friends are urging us to rethink our plans......DH just wants to make a go for it and make the best of the situation.

I was just reading an article where RCL cancelled their upcoming Caribbean cruises. There is a part of me that wishes Disney would follow suit and then I wouldn't be faced with the decision.

I am not 100% sure - will find out if I ever get through on the phone - but my take is they are being more lenient about moving even VGT. I feel like they can't force me to cruise if the CDC is advising against it.

Sorry, I went back and re-read your post. You are already within the 14-days of embarkation for the VGT? If so, I'm sure you've been exposed to someone and DCL will move your cruise. I thought you were trying to reschedule a spring break cruise and I don't think they'll move a March VGT at this time. My misunderstanding.

They can't force you on but they don't have to offer a refund. The CDC has been advising against it continuously since March 2020.

I think you can tell them you have a possible COVID exposure and you're fine. And it's even true. If you have left your hidey hole any time in the last month, statistically speaking you have possible COVID exposure.

Yeah, we were more social this past weekend than we have been in a while so I'm guessing there's a good chance we got exposed. Plus DS was home due to snow last week but will be back at school this week... so even if we didn't get exposed at the event we were at Saturday, there's a good chance he will be this week... ugh.

Sorry if that was confusing :-). We moved it from April to January and now I want to move it back to April. Hopefully they won't give me a hard time about the VGT. No confirmation that we were exposed but at this point I'd be surprised if we weren't.

I get it. Something like 1% of the county I live in is cnfirmed positive right now, and it feels like confirmed is a partial of the reality given testing situations here. 10% of my kid's school is out right now between positive and quarantine.

I'm not one to recommend lying, but I think "probable exposure" isn't a lie right now unless you're really isolated.

Same, but we're not scheduled to sail until the 31st. I'm so undecided and change my mind several times a day. I've got a PCR test scheduled for this afternoon that I'm hoping turns out to be positive. I've been exposed to several confirmed positive people in the past week and have been a little congested and sneezy so maybe I won't have to worry about testing positive at the port.

We were supposed to be on this cruise and are now cancelling everything this morning. So I'm with you on venting!!!!

One of our party of 4 came in close contact with someone at work last week and just tested positive yesterday. And, of course, it came when we're outside the 11-90 day window. We were already stressed out about testing at the port and were also wondering about the port stops, esp Puerto Rico, etc.

We booked this in the Fall of 2020 on opening day and it was FINALLY getting close! Then everything started hitting the fan again this month. Talk about bad timing!

And this was already a rescheduled one from a cancelled one out of NY last Fall. So, needless to say, we're really sad today. The positive test made the decision for us.

So we're sitting here right now cancelling everything. No idea when we'll go now with vacation time planned, etc.

Anyway, I hope it all works out for you if you decide to go. It's such a fluid situation right now and you'll just have to watch and see what the changes are and decide what's best for you.

Good Luck!

Totally agree with that. We were at a party Saturday and DS is at school this week so I'd be amazed if we get through the next week without exposure.

Got through to the big box travel agent and he's trying to get through to Disney now.

You know it's crazy times when you're hoping to test positive! Whatever happens I hope it works out for you.

We are conflicted as well, we sail Feb 4th. We have a rather large group with 3 children under 5. Two of our party have gotten ill but the rest are fine for now. Fingers crossed that we all make it.

So sorry you have to cancel too. I'm so curious if it's actually going to happen. Hope you are able to find an alternative.

We were originally scheduled to cruise March of 2020, right when everything shut down. We moved it to December 2020, October 2021 (that one actually happened but we decided to wait til DS was vaccinated), April 2022, January 2022, now back to April 2022.
I do feel confident that April 2022 will happen and we also have an August 2022 on the Wish scheduled.

My feelings on our 1/31 cruise change every day, sometimes every hour. I scheduled PCR tests for the family for this Saturday, my youngest was identified as a close contact on Friday and is currently symptom free.

I truly sympathize with everyone going through the same thing.
