We are booked 8/23-8/24 room only, then checking back in on 8/25 for free dining.

My current ressie for 8/23-8/24 is AKL Arusha view and the price is $855 (370 1st night/390 2nd night)

I just went in under the 30% off AKL special and the same room is $351.50 for the first night and $370.50 for the 2nd. Total with taxes $812. That's not 30% off. Do they raise their rates then make these offers??? I thought I was going to save a few hundred off those 2 nights and it's only a $33 savings after taxes. Crazy!

the discount says standard room only. which comes to:

Date Rate per Night
Thu, Aug 23 $ 185.50
Fri, Aug 24 $ 199.50

i assume for the package part of your trip you have the room with the view so I would just book the standard room for your first 2 nts. and then maybe when you check in and make a comment about having to move your stuff in 2 days they will just upgrade you to the room with the view right then. ::yes::

Keep calling back you may yet get that 40% you can always add it! I do it every yr! Also remember that a lot times it says UP to % but each resort will have a different percentage like now for aug-set mono resorts is only 20% while Epcot resorts are 30%

We have a room only at pop before FD starts. It would save us 6.00 not worth the call since we don't have long distance.LOL

I would totally try that except moving would destroy my son. He has autism, and packing and leaving is a horror for us. We do it on the sly. He never sees me pack or the luggage leave the room because the one time he did it was a horrific experience and our last day at WDW was so sad. His language abilities don't allow for me to explain we are leaving our room. Even if I did that on the sly, once he knows our room number when we are some place, he has it memorized and will go there. I can't take the chance of even the room number change causing a problem. :)

Once you're already booked is there still a chance a PIN will get attached to your name? We used to get them every few months, for the past few years then they stopped. I think they figure we're going anyway, we don't need the PIN. A friend of mine had the same thing happen, 2-3 years of PINs every few months then they stopped. They skipped Disney for a year and now all of a sudden they are getting PINs again!

Ahhh....there you go. I like the 40% off pin I got last year better :(

me too...and I liked it better when the public discount was also 40% off....

This is the first time in a few years that free dining is a better discount for us (2 adults at Poly) than the room discount.

Hoping for a 40% PIN, but I haven't seen one of those for any dates in 2012...has anyone?:confused3

We were looking at the free dining option. But, you couldn't combine it with a discounted room. So we kept the 20% pin. Now they offered 30% off the room & our price was reduced even more. We lucked out this time.

Same here now that my son is 10 and considered an adult on the dining plan, despite the fact he'll eat mainly off the kids menus anyway. I wish they'd come up with some sort of "junior" dining plan.

I agree with this! We are doing a mother/daughter trip. My daughter will be just shy of 11. She is SUPER picky!! There is NO WAY we would pay for the dining plan OOP.
