So. California Resident ticket question

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the answer. We are visiting DL later this month (Woo hoo!) and are trying to convince my in-laws to join us. They are Illinois residents but own a condo in southern California. Do they need to show a California drivers license to be able to purchase the Southern California resident tickets or could they just show some bills like a real estate tax bill and an electric bill? Thanks.

My boys (3 and 4) are so excited for the trip. DS4 talks about the rides he want to go on on almost every day. The both love the Monster, Inc. movie so we can't wait to go on that one. If my in-laws come, DH and I will be able to hit Space Mountain and other fun ones that the boys can't go on.

As far as I know, they go by zip code, so it would have to be a driver's license showing the zip code where you live.

We bought our tickets at local grocery store - Vons/Safeway. They didn't ask for zip code proof to purchase. Nobody at DL checked either. This was for the southern california 2-Fer special. We're using our second day on Saturday - in the rain!
