Thank you Diznut84. Do you know which two weeks for Christmas? I'm hoping the week of Christmas until after New Years (Dec. 21st - Jan 1st?)

Keep in mind that there's a few dozen districts within 50 miles of the park and many many more when you consider the LA/Orange County/San Diego metro area. So pretty much plan on having anything that's a "typical" break period having at least one or two schools off.

Most of the schedules I've seen get from the third week in Dec through the first few days of Jan, others start towards the end of that week.

There are hundrends of districts in CA and many in other states who visit during their kids breaks. It's not just a matter of So Cal schools here. And many of the CA schools are on year round or modified year round tracks so that makes these questions very hard to answer.

Our Christmas break was December 20th to January 4th.

Most of the school districts around here are forcing kids out of the year round programs because they cost more to operate.

Most schools have roughly a 10 month schedule (mid-August to mid-June) with 2-3 week Christmas breaks and 2 week Spring breaks around Easter.

Except I know several large districts in Orange County (yes, they definitely impact DL/DCA attendance too) that don't start until after Labor Day, so September 8th - 10th, depending on the district.

End of the school year for the districts on that schedule is June 18-ish this year.

Winter Recess 2009/2010 is Dec 21 - Jan 1 (probably pretty standard)

But as others have said, CA does not have state mandated school schedules like some places do. Individual districts do their own thing.
Besides, I've been at DL when it was absolutely packed and the biggest factor I could figure out was a Utah school holiday. ;)

Here in Corona/Norco (about 30 mins. from DLR) many of our schools are year round. Those that aren't have summer break from Sat., June 13th and back to school on Sept. 2nd. Christmas Break is Sat., Dec. 20th and back to School and Jan. 5th.

But for those that are year round schools, 25% of our kids are off at any one time. Jan-Dec.

HTH.

And yes, other states can have a huge effect on DLR. Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Even Northern Califoria effects it. In the beginning of Jan. when most local schools were back in session (my DD9 was off track) the parks were still pretty crowded. I spoke to several guests who were from up north and they said they got 3 weeks off which accounted for a lot of the extra people at DLR the week of Jan. 5th.

ours closes june 26 to july 28 (for junior high and elementry)
then high school (yay!) june ?? to august 31
we just live 20 minutes away and our schedule is all wack but yep thats the schedule
