So Cal resident's do you need ID at gates?

To me it seems clear that SoCal tix are offered to SoCal residents and their guests. It is not a "I know someone in SoCal who can buy them for me" type thing. Why would Disney do that? They are obviously trying to get more locals to come.

The proof of the pudding is what would happen if they asked at the gate to see ID. Although I have never done it, if I was with my sister or folks who are still SoCal residents then I would feel safe using SoCal tix. :cool2:

yeah, that's what i was thinking, which is why i hadn't planned on buying them that way. i just thought i'd clarify if it seemed reasonable to everyone else (and i just didn't realize it before), then it might be something i could consider.

i found great prices on tix at costco.com anyway, so those are the ones i'm going to use. i have to buy 10 passes, and buying them from costco gives us an extra day, and STILL saves me $130! woohooo!

Personally i always use the so cal passes being from so cal and never been id but it say on the ticket they can but there always so busy and just wanna get you through the gates fast that they never do..

I just called Disneyland and asked if I could used tickets that my (SoCal) brother bought for me. He said that they "MIGHT" ask for ID at the gate. IF they do, and I cannot provide SoCal ID, I will simply have to pay the difference to upgrade my SoCal tickets to regular tickets. I say it's worth the risk. I was also thinking that theoretically, one could say they got dropped off at the park & left their ID at home. I don't know if I really want to go that far though.

Welcome to the DIS, usedtoliveinwa. :)

My coworker can get discount tickets that are a little better for the SoCal discount. We called Disneyland to ask about checking ID, and were told that for the special they will be checking ID. So, she decided not to chance it.
