Do you know would happen if someone from Nor Cal or out of state bought So Cal Park Hoppers from Vons in the Los Angeles/Orange County area, but was questioned about their residency at the gate? I've heard two stories. One that nobody asks, and one that, yes, they do ask. So if they ask, do you have to go back to the ticket booth and pay the difference?

Do they sell non-So-Cal Park Hoppers at Vons?

You will hear a number of stories about this subject..I have been there when they have asked and the folks were asked to prove they were SoCal zip folks, they were sent to the ticket booth, happened after that I have no clue, others will say no one asked..you may find they are getting more vigilant and with the rumor of biometrics all that will go away.

This is what I've experienced as well. A group 2-3 parties ahead of us was trying to use So Cal tickets to get into DL, the CM asked for ID and when they were unable to prove they were So Cal residents they were denied entrance. They got a little "testy" (rude really) so the CM called her supervisor over, her supervisor upheld her decision to deny entry based on the fact they did not have So Cal ID, I did hear her say that they could go to the ticket booths and pay the difference but I don't know what the people did then. As we entered DL the supervisor was on her walkie/phone to the entrance of DCA describing the people to make sure they didn't just walk over there and get in.
Personally, I wouldn't try this, I'd be way too embarrassed if I was turned away. lol

Me too, would be too embarrassing. I wondered if it was like the FP guidelines.:rolleyes1 Also, I wanted to hear how it was handled.

I wonder if they sell regular PHs at the stores down there.

It seems a bit harsh to deny someone entrance to the park simply because they forgot their id. Wouldn't it have been a lot more "guest friendly" to allow them in but with a warning that next time they need to be sure to have their id on them. Rules are great, but we shouldn't hide behind them in an effort to avoid using our good judgement.

I would be to embarrased to do it too. I was old once by a good friend of mine that lives in anaheim that she bought her kids the so cal passes and they denied her kids since they didn't have id. I think that is uncalled for. How many kids bring ids to the park. They were ages 16, 10, and 8. I don't agree with that one.

You are buying discounted tickets, which you need to prove you fall in the group that is allowed to buy that discount. It would be like a 25yo saying they qualify for a senior discount, but not willing to show ID to prove it. If you want the SoCal discount, be prepared to show ID to get it. (And yes, I have seen people asked for ID.)

It's not harsh if you aren't following the rules that apply to the tickets. Using good judgement should suggest that you not use So Cal tickets if you aren't a So Cal resident. :) In the scenario the OP suggested the user of the tickets didn't forget their ID, they were not a So Cal resident. Again, in my instance they were turned away and told they could go to the ticket booths and buy regular tickets, they weren't completely denied entry, just not allowed to use the So Cal tickets.

They denied her kids? That seems a bit extreme but again, to use the tickets you need to prove residency, so it does make sense.
