I'm so bummed. I'm trying to book a cruise and my TA needs payment immediately. However, I must have written my husband's credit card number down wrong because it keeps kicking back on Disney. Unfortunately, he's not scheduled to have telephone time for another two weeks (he's low man on the totem pole in his new job), so I can't get the right number from him. This was the last room the TA had on that cruise, so I'm worried it won't be available on Tuesday, when I get paid. The funny (sad?) thing is, we'll be getting a windfall of cash on Tuesday and can probably pay off the whole vacation then. The next cruise with availability is not until my husband returns to work overseas. Aargh. I so wanted to see the blue waters of Castaway Cay this year.

I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that this room stays open until Tuesday.

Do you have a bill statement anywhere around the house from that credit card? The correct account number will be on the bill. Good luck!

Do you have access to any of the credit card statements? They won't have the expiration date on them, but hopefully it's one of the numbers in the card itself that's wrong.

I compared the card number I'd written down to the statement and they all match up. I think it's the number on the back that's wrong. When I talked to him last week to get that number, our connection was bad. I probably misheard him. Also, I don't know if he changed the address on the card, so they might have the wrong address and phone number. Of course, the credit card company won't help me with any of these, since I'm not an authorized user (it's a new card, we just never got around to getting me a duplicate card). Not that I blame them, I'd rather them be cautious. But, I also want to cruise.

Can you send a check....many TA's accept checks....and then payoff the rest with the Credit card when you have the correct numbers.

WHy does the TA want payment NOW? Any TA I have ever dealt with gives me the same amnt of time to pay the depo that I would have gotten had I booked DCL directly. I would check with other TAs and see if they have availabilty. What date are you trying to book? I thought the only sold out cruises were the repo cruises? Even thouse have had some canins open up recently.

The TA is allseastravel.com. I think they do things differently w/ group bookings and such. I've called a couple other TAs and Disney directly and no one has availability for a quad. allseastravel.com is going to hold it until Monday and try the card again. Then I'll only have one day of that room being upin the air.

How about writing a check and fedex it to her post date it to Tuesday when the cash is in. I know there are fedex Saturday pick up that can deliver it by Monday. You will be able to give her a tracking number. if she knows it is coming maybe she will give you that extra day.

Why do they need the number on the back of the card? I have never been asked that in person. I have had (on few occasions) had to enter it online, but generally, they should be able to process without it.

You should be able to go online and get access to your card and verify charges. If you know the card number and the social security number of your DH, I don't see the problem here.

Or, why don't you just call the card company and see what the scoop is.

It seems too strange to me.

It might have something to do with the fact that she doesn't have the credit card there in person.

The credit card company will not talk to me. I can do automated stuff, but the reps won't talk to me, since I'm not my husband or an authorized user. I tried everything! They would only talk to me, if I got him on the line to verify that they could talk to me.

All Seasons thinks I may have the expiration date wrong. I'm trying to find receipts that might have the expiration date on them, but we rarely use credit cards, so I can't find any offhand.

I just want to be clear that I'm not bashing All Seasons or any of their agents. They have been as helpful as possible. They could have just written me off as soon as the card rejected, but they have been trying to work it out. Hopefully, I'll find something this weekend and can get it worked out. I really want to go on this cruise.

Get one of your male friends, neighbors, bother-in-law....someone male to tell the credit card company it is okay to talk to you, Make sure the person knows your husbands mothers maiden name, birthday, address, phone #....just in case they ask. Then hopefully they will talk to you and give you the info you need.

How about a new Disney Bank one card. If you apply for a card just for you, I think there is some incentive and maybe they will hold the room for you will your credit is approved on a new card.

Also, if you have the deposit in your checking account, you can always do an electronic check.

We were on the the 04 Eastern with you and I think you were supposed to be on the Western last week.....if so, we did have wonderful warm weather and a great time. When does the prince arrive?

I agree that you can check the expiration date on the website. The security code on the back of the card wouldn't be on the site though.

Have you considered applying for a new credit card just for this deposit? You would have one in your name and could use it while DH is gone instead of his card?

I was going to say the same thing, I don't want to get too personal, sounds like your husband maybe in the military or something, and with smal kids (I think I read that), you may be better off just applying for one in your own name so that this wouldn't be an issue. I would hate for something serious to happen and you not to have anything, especially if you cannot speak to him for 2 weeks. Go for the Disney Visa!!!

I was expecting my income tax return today (it came) and thank heavens, because I called the cruise and they had ONE...count it...ONE room left on the whole ship for August 18th, 2005.

I was about to panic, but then I just figured whatever happened, happened. At midnight, I checked my bank account and by 12:30am I snagged the last stateroom available on the cruise we wanted!

Do they tell you what room you get when you book, or is it assigned later? I was in such a hurry to get the room booked, I didn't even check to see the location of the room?

BTW, I will keep my fingers, toes, knees whatever crossed for you too. I'll say a little prayer too, cuz everyone deserves a nice vacation now and then.

If I apply for a new card, do I get the card number right away? Like I said, we never use credit cards. We we were going to ask for a card for me, but he was sent overseas (not military, but independent contractor) before we took care of that task. Also, does getting a card affect your credit? We want to refinance our house when he returns in June, so I don't want to do anything that will screw that up.

DisneyLover - we were supposed to be on the cruise, but cancelled when we found out we were pregnant. I'm glad to hear the weather was good. I meant to watch the ship on Two Palms, but forgot. I did think of you all often. My son was born in December. Thanks for asking.

If you apply for one card & pay it off every month it will help your credit because it will show that you pay your bills. It also wouldn't hurt to have credit in your name as well as your DH's when you apply for a mortage. Good luck. I am not sure about the new card info over the phone but you would definitely get it in a couple days. Why don't you book thru DCL for the room that you want, they will give you 5 days to pay the deposit I think it is now. After you get that straightened out, you can transfer it to a TA and wont need to pay anything additional since your deposit is already taken care of.

I called DCL and they said they have no available rooms on that cruise in the Cat I want. I don't know how All Seasons can get the room, but they said they did.

Thanks for the advice about the credit cards. I'm going to call Disney Visa later this morning,

Its not a great idea to get someone to pretend that they are your hubby, you could end up in a bigger mess than a missed cruise. And while applying for a new credit card in your name is a good idea, it won't help you with this particular payment.

You mention that you have the funds and are coming into a good amount of money in a couple days ~ the problem is just the timing with the due date expected by your travel agent.

The solution seems pretty simple to me.

Forget about using your credit card. Have someone who trusts you, be it your relative, close friend, etc, call the travel agent on your behalf and put the payment on their credit card.

Pay your relative/close friend back. Start packing for cruise.

The TA may have a block of rooms booked and that usually means that you can get a great rate because it is a group booking, even though you are only booking one room. Good luck getting that reserved today!!! :)
