At a hotel yes, someone's house no.

If it were allowed, I would so pack soap and guest towels in my purse.

I haven't read all of the posts on this thread, but I'd make the guests bring their own soap and towels, then they can take them home after they use them and then you won't have all those little so-so smelly things lying around your house.

Unless you're the guest, then take all you want. Your hosts probably snagged 'em all from a few hotels anyhow.

I currently have a basket in my bathroom filled with guest soaps. hand lotions, shampoos and conditioners and little samples (gifts) and of course from disney trips. I feel if you feel the need go ahead just leave some for others.
