I've seen a few reviews of people who were less than happy with the cosco one are there any other decent travel/portable car seats around? Just to clarify, I'm interested in something very lightwieght and compact if possible to find. Has anyone out there been satisfied with the cosco one?
Thanks!

By "the Cosco one" do you mean the Tote n' Go, that flat thing with the harness straps attached to it? If that's what you are referring to, then I agree, stay far away from it.

One of the best all-around "travel carseats" for trips where you will be flying *is* actually a Cosco seat, it's just not the Tote n' Go. It is the Touriva 5-pt. This is a no-frills convertible toddler seat that has a narrow base and is lightweight for carrying. Most of the rental car companies provide Tourivas to people who rent carseats. You can usually buy a Touriva for under $50 at gen'l mdse stores like Target or WalMart. We bought one that we normally kept in Grandma's car for the 20 minutes or so per week that baby spent riding with her, but we took it back from her when we flew, instead of the very heavy and much larger seats we used in our own cars.

This is a Touriva: http://www.coscojuvenile.com/product.asp?productID=561

Hi, yes I think that is the one I was remembering. How much do you think the Touriva weighs because from the looks of it I can't imagine it being much lighter than regular car seats?
Thanks NotUrsula

We bought the Touriva for traveling as well. According to Walmart.com under the specs it says the shipping weight is 10lbs which includes the box so you're looking at slightly under that.

hth!

Wow, that does sound pretty light! I wonder if they sell them right in walmart or if it's something you can only buy online.....opps never mind, I just read the description and it says it's avail in most stores, so I'll have to go check it out.
