I just signed up for the Vacation as You Wish event during my upcoming trip.
When I filled out the registration form it asked if the person was a member or not.

It got me wondering... Are my children considered DVC Members or Not ? :confused3

They range from ages 24 to 3... They are still all living at home...
Just incase age or residence make a difference...

TIA

Only those who are named on the contract are DVC members. Minor children can't be members, and unless you specifically added any non-minor children to the contract, they would also not be considered members.

I don't think it matters, we put our son as a member and it didn't make a difference. This was a fun event. We won a 7 night trip in the world passport collection. It was a fun evening.

I just added my two kids to our contract who are 20 & 21. They both still live at home. We did this so they could get the AP discount. DH & I already have AP's & wanted to get the kids AP's.

FYI, adult children living at home are eligible for the DVC AP discount even if they are not on the contract.. They just need a photo ID with address such as Driver's License and the member with blue DVC Membership card. Our DD's are 23 and 26 and they buy their AP's with the member discount, too.

Carol, thx for the info. Everyone we sp/w told us we needed to add them to the contract in order to get the discount. We figured we only had to buy a park pass for our DGS.

Since they are members, I should be able to hit my kids up for their share of the maintenance fees...

I am a new DVC owner. We are doing our first trip in july.. This thread leads me to a question... I was planning on renewing annual passes while there. Am I reading correctly that minor children do NOT get the DVC annual pass price only the adults on contract? This could change my plans and they may be better off with 10 day non exp.. thanks

Immediate family members residing in the same household (proof of residence such as picture driver's license must be presented) and children residing in same household are eligible. Here is a LINK to the AP/DVC prices here on the DIS. :)

What is this event? I haven't heard of it. Thanks.:)

It depends on which one they are talking about. It is basically a sales presentation where they supposedly offer good deals. I have seen they had one in Boston, possibly on a cruise, and a webcast. There is one at Contemporary coming up sometime mid-July which is supposed to also have a BLT tour, characters, prizes, other things.

We got an e-mail invitation about 2 weeks before our trip.
Sounds like fun. :)

Don't mean to hijack but have a question. We are DVC members, our DD and family are also DVC memebers. We are going down in Oct, if we wanted to take our grandchildren and get AP for them how would it be done, what proof would I need or how would we do it...they do not live with us. The parents would not be coming,(but we are all going in Dec). If they bought on line and got vouchers how would I acitivate at WDW in Oct? Did I ask this right? Thank you for any help. :goodvibes
