hey guys.... need some strategy help? I am trying to get a June reservation at Aulani. I am totally flexible on either a 2 bedroom or two studios....any view cat. I cannot get anything but a wait list right now because every time that I log in the first two nights are already sold out? So, it won't even let me capture the 3 out of 5 nights of my trip. I would consider paying cash for 1 or 2 nights but every morning that I wake up one more night is gone. I am panicking. Can anyone out there more experience help with Aulani virgin?

June 8 to July 6 is Aulani's second highest DVC demand time of the year, behind only, and actually close to, Christmas week. What you are seeing is the usual problem annually for getting rooms at that time of year at 7 months out. Your best option absent luck to find an opening is to waitlist your trip and for that I would do two waitlists for a 2BR, one for ocean view and one poolside gardens view, and then just keep checking online to see if anything opens that you can take and then cancel waitlists.

I just took a look at availability starting June 15th for a 2-BR. As you said, for much of June there are only random days. But if you really are open to any category, I'd be willing to bet that if you can be logged in at 8:00 sharp (Eastern time) tomorrow morning, you will be able to grab an Oceanview 2-BR, either Dedicated or Lockoff since the 15th is currently available. And you can book the number of days you need. I know you said you've been trying, but keep at it. You may get lucky!! Good luck!

I second druba's advice: Waitlist what is not available and check the online system frequently to see if individual dates become available. You may be able to cobble together the dates you want.

Compounding the availability issue for dates in June is that Aulani's point chart was modified beginning in 2016. The good news was that most of June remained in the Choice Season and that daily point costs actually went down in the Choice Season (see this article for more details). The bad news was that much of late June, all of July, and half of August are now in the more expensive Premier Season. The difference between the Choice Season and the Premier Season is about 20%: A two-bedroom Ocean View goes from 69 points a night during the Choice Season to 84 points a night during the Premier Season.

I suspect a lot of families going to Aulani during the summer vacation period are trying to squeeze into the three weeks in June, hoping to bypass the more expensive dates later in the summer. Thus, there is even more competition for the dates from June 1 to June 25.
