I never thought I'd ever say this, but it's a good thing I work at a casino! I got the call at about 3pm on Sunday (my day off). My department had about 10 people already there and nobody else was able to make it in. Since I live right down the road, they called and asked if I would come in. So, I did. Turns out those 10 people and myself were at work for 30 hours. It takes a minimum of at least 6 people and 2 supervisors to run a single shift so, we all took turns sharing rooms in the hotel tower of the casino. How lucky am I that I work in the only Casino Hotel in Atlantic City to be rated 5 stars (or whatever it is) by AAA, and better yet, get paid to be there? Couldn't ask for better accomodations. Anyway, I ended up working from 6 to 10pm on Sunday evening, 1am to 9am on Monday morning and then 5pm to 1am on Monday night. Determined to get home after 30 hours of snowed in bliss, I took a cab as close to my house as it would take me and I trudged through the snow the rest of the way with visions on my own bed dancing in my head...LOL. One more day of work tomorrow night. *sigh*

could have been worse!!;) I hear the casino's were packed cause people couldn't get out!

Jason, how could he stink when he stayed in the 5 ***** part of the hotel in the casino, Geesh, wake up or get the snow mound off of your head.:teeth:

I am glad you work some where that has a bed and shower and food!

Wow cool! For most people being snowed in at work would be a nightmare, but you sound like you had it pretty good. :D I bet your own bed felt good though. :D

Snowed in at work? I was going to say...Auggghhh! Nothing's worse than that! But considering where you work, it's not so bad! I'd stay!! :teeth:

That doesn't sound bad at all. You didn't have to get out in the weather to go to work on that longer shift. There are worse places to be snowbound :)

I was about to say how sorry I was for you but then I read where you work. I'm not so sorry anymore! ;)

LOL...not me! I was wise enough to plan ahead and bring a change of clothes. I do know several people that had to wash and re-use the same pair of undies. Ick...LOL

Tony-NJ, the hotels were filled to the brim. We had this poor guy from Allentown that was stuck in Atlantic City. There were no hotel rooms available anywhere so he wandered the casino floor all day and night. When I came back down from from room the next day, he was still there. He was finally able to get a room late monday....poor guy.

Browneyes, I wish I could have gambled! Unfortunately, it's illegal for casino supervisors to gamble in the state of NJ. (Exception: Lottery tickets :teeth: )

jamsmom, I consider myself lucky to have been able to have those accomodations when so many others were stranded.

Saffron, yes, I had it pretty good. But others had it better. Of the five rooms our department had reserved, I got one of only two that DIDN'T have a hot tub......LOL

Pin Wizard, you should come work with us..lol

nativetxn, there sure are worse places to be snowbound...probably the worst would be a casino with no rooms available and no cash in your pockets to play anyway...LOL

Luckymommyx2, it's the thought that counts! :teeth:
