So I am having a VERY bad day....we went to the airport ready to leave for Disneyland and we found out that our twins passorts has expired :confused3 apparently they were only good for 3 years not 5 like the rest of the family :confused3 so we were not allowed on the airplane :sad1: Hopefully we can get a temp. passport on Monday and maybe on a flight Monday night...we don't know :sad2: Hopefully you all are having a much better day ;)

:mad:Oh - as my DH would say CRAP-A-ROOSKI!! That stinks!! I hope it works out okay for you - I'm so sorry!!! That's really sad, because they're little - not like they could do anything!

Oh that stinks!! I'm so sorry to hear that, about the passports. :(

In other news, here's a random picture of my new niece, on her car ride home from the hospital:

I knit the blanket that she's clutching. :) (It's so cool to me - when you give a gift, you let it go and the recipient can do whatever the heck he or she wants to do with it. In this case, my bro and his wife used it as intended on their baby's way home!)

Mel- ohmigosh...that STINKS!!! Good luck with getting a temp!

Sarah - That pic is just adorable!

xxxx
Just got home from a wedding recetption for a friend ...free beer!!! :rotfl:...which translates to Shelly will be most likely falling asleep on the couch after she hits the "Submit Reply" button and have a nice headache tomorrow! but I really needed a night out with friends to basically just forget everything after the week I had. I don't work tomorrow, which is why I took advantage of the free beer .

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!:goodvibes

Oh Mel that's AWFUL!!!!! I hope you can get things worked out and can get on the plane tomorrow. Will trip insurance cover any of the lost time?

:lmao: For having consumed lots of free beer your spelling is fantastic!

I'm home from camping and bummed. It was our last weekend until next spring. Plus to make my weekend even sadder, my mean old husband who thinks he is funny was terribly unfunny in my opinion. We were sitting around the campfire and the kids asked him to tell a campfire story so he told one of a family that went back to Disney World then turns to me and says it was a far fetched tall tale story. To me it sounded more like a horror story! I told him he better sleep with eye open!

So in light of my husbands scary story- I'm booking a room only this week. :stir:
I'm stuck on which week though. Andrew's school schedule isn't out yet but I'm 99% sure he will have 2 days off the first week of November. But part of me wants to go the first or second week in December to get the full effect of Christmas at Disney but I don't think he will have any days off and then I worry about it being more crowded. Hmmmm decisions decisions... anyone want to share their opinions?

That is a mean story!!

So my parents, along with a family that we are good friends with (that have never been) are looking at going in Dec. '11. My mother had a chart listing the busiest and the slowest weeks and the first and second lowest weeks for crowd levels were the first and second weeks in Dec. It apparently is also still value season....Meghan - do you know off hand if that is true?

Mel~ That is terrible!! I can NOT believe they wouldn't let kids on the plane for that!!! GEEZ!!!!
Sarah....love the pic and the blanket is really sweet!!!
Yes...the first part of Dec,until the 18th or so, is still value season....I wouldnt do the first full week cuz it's Pop Warner...reaaaaally wanna avoid that if you have an option....I say do it in Nov whenever you want and skip school!!!!!!Hes still little!!!

Shawna is right.....avoid that Pop Warner week!!! I used to have a chart with the slowest weeks, but when our hard drive crashed, it went bye-bye.

I think Disney initiated an additional 'fall' season, so november & december would cost the same.

Beginning in 2011, early October (excluding times around Thanksgiving) through until right around Christmas is now "Fall Season" which seems to be a bit more expensive than Value but less than Regular.

Yeah I just looked up the rates and it would pretty much cost the same to go in Nov or Dec. I also went back and looked at Shelly's TR from last November and there were lots of Christmas decorations up when she went in early Nov. We just wouldn't see everything decorated or some of the extras like the Candlelight Processional. Osbourne Lights and MVMCP should be starting by then.
We just have to be careful taking Andrew out of school. Our district only allows 5 days max per school year for vacations. Anything over the 5 days and they fail him for the quarter he missed the days in. :scared1: Crazy in my opinion but it's something we have to abide by. We always take 6 days because we drive. :headache: If I could convince DH to fly we could have more flexibility in choosing dates.
I think I'm going to go with November 4-12 (possibly leave Thursday, Nov 3rd and split the driving into 2 days) - room only so I can always change it if need be when I get the school calendar for next year. :confused3 It would be 7 days of vacation but his school should be closed for 2 of those days for November conferences so he would only be absent for 5 days.

Now should I book online or call? If I call I get to hear someone wish me a magical day!

That's around Veteran's Day...does that make any differences to the price or crowds??? :confused3

:banana::banana:I'm officially booked!!!!!! :banana::banana:

I did it online and printed my reservation confirmation- time to start my planning binder back up again!!!!! I know it's a year away but I'm so excited!!!!!

Ooooh...I just found the answer on the tsa website...apparently its a common question, and it is allowed.

YEAH!!! Thank you.... now it looks like I am going to have to make a pumpkin pie and bring it along... Maggie will be so happy! Don't forget to go visit her snowbirds.... she will love it!!

:woohoo:WAY TO GO KIM!!!! Lots of the Christmas stuff is ready and done by the first part of Nov. I know the Gingerbread things weren't done when Shelly was there last year.

We are now looking at going in October 2011(we have a 4 day weekend in mid Oct. at our schools). It would basically be this week, next year. We're hoping for 5 days, we'd hit F&W at Epcot and MNSSHP at MK for sure. It would be the first time we could use our new DVC pts at WDW. There's a chance we might try to go to Hilton Head this summer, but can't book it yet, so it's likely unavailable.

My information now comes at a price. You have to give me some of that pumpkin pie! :rotfl:....just kidding.

Kim - Yay for booking! That absence policy is kind of ridiculous. I understand that some kids miss more school than they should, but failing them? It makes me want to home school my kids. Then I could work Disney into the curriculum.:lmao:

My school district has a 5 day unexcused absence policy too. I have written letters to the teachers and principal, and while they don't excuse the kids, it doesn't affect their grades at all (unless of course, they don't do the work they miss). Most often, they have been accomodating (and a little jealous). I guess, that's their policy, but it hasn't been too tough.

I found a way to get DD7's teacher to incorporate Disney!! I was volunteering last week and they were drawing lion pictures and they had a diagram, what part to draw first etc. I thought of the animation drawing class!! We bought a book on how to draw some of the Fab 5 characters! So I offered it to the teacher and she said she'd love it. So I think the 2nd graders will be drawing Mickey!
