Happy New Year, Snowbirds!!

I had my pork and saurkraut to start the new year off with lots of luck! Tomorrow I start my diet. Definitely need lots of luck for that! 25 lbs to lose. Sad to say that none of that is baby weight . . . that was all gone just 10 days after Chase was born. This is pre-baby fat.

HAPPY NEW YEAR SNOWBIRDS!!!!
Boy, I wish I were headed to FL now. It's what we call bone-as* cold here now!! Good thing I don't have to go anywhere important until Monday!

Hope you all had a safe and fun New Year's Eve. We went out to dinner with a bunch of neighbor families and then back to one of their houses to play games until midnight. So much fun!

Had my SIL and BIL over today since they couldn't come for Christmas Day due to the snow storm. Now I have to stop with the big eating!!!

On hold with Disney Dining :) Made some ressies for Hoop Dee Doo at the end of the month. I'm hoping to score a surprise ressie at Chef Mickey's. I know it's a long shot but I've got to try. Rylan would be over the moon to get there!

Paying OOP sucks! $217 for 3 adults and 1 child at HDDR. Good thing DH is in a good mood tonight!

I've never heard that about pork and saurkraut. I'll have to do that next year. We spent the night at my in laws. My mil drank a little too much wine and got really silly, until she sat down and fell asleep. We ate our greens and black eye peas for luck and wealth for the year. Maybe that's why 2009 went so wrong. My DH and I didn't eat it last NYE. I made sure this year he ate plenty.

Oh and after my DH left with his parents to go to his nephew's wedding, my sister and I took the boys to see The Princess Frog. They wanted to see that instead of The Chipmunks, b/c (and I love this reasoning b/c it means I'm doing something right) The Princess Frog is a Disney movie. According to them, "Disney movies are better b/c duh it made my Disney." We ended up having to go to 2 places to see it. The first theatre we went to over sold and we could only find two seats in the tiny theatre together. We ended up getting a refund and going to another theatre. We did have to sit a few rows from the screen, but it was a great movie. It made me want to go to NOLA and get some beneigts at Cafe du Monde and fried fish at Frankie & Johnny's.

Meghan - sounds like youhad a great Christmas. But I have one question? How did you get married and not get a crock pot??? I thought it was a mandatory gift! :)

I didn't have a bridal shower, so we didn't really get any of those "normal" gifts. We lived with my parents for about 2 1/2 years so we didn't need anything. Now, I get all those typically bridal shower gifts for Christmas or my birthday!

Okay - good enough explanation for me!! I got an ironing board cover for Christmas!! It's funny because I hardly EVER iron! But my mom does a lot and she does some while she babysits for me sometimes and noticed I needed a new one!

Hi there Snowbirds! Just wanted to share some pics I just took this morning We woke up to a winter wonderland!

I, of course, stayed inside and read the paper. I don't enjoy playing in the snow anymore and I don't have the proper attire to do so anyways. Besides, I had to clean up from breakfast. We bought a Belgium waffle maker yesterday at Kohl's and just had to try it out! They were delicious!!!

Meghan - that is a good amount of snow!! Your neighborhood is so cute!

Is the waffle maker another thing you didn't get when you got married?? ;) Actually I didn't get one either. Maybe I should buy a Mickey one! My SIL has about three different kinds, including Mickey. LOL.

It's super cold here today. My DD8 has a friend over and I may have to drive her home - don't want to go out!!! DH is working at the Vikings game (YAY Vikes!!).
I packed up some Christmas decorations. Still haven't done the tree. I'm thinking I need to do this gradually so the house doesn't seem so empty all at once!

Wow that's a good bit of snow Meghan! Looks like Madison liked it...well the little of her face I could see behind the layers anyway!

We watched the weather channel this morning and they showed snow for us on Friday. Andrew is already planning his snow day!

How is everyone enjoying 2010 so far? I've been keeping busy and am really looking forward to this trip. I need a vacation ASAP!!!!!! We spent much of this weekend working on the garage project. I put insulation up on 2 walls and my hands are raw. I wore gloves and all but those little pieces snuck in somehow. :sad2: Not too raw that I can't DIS though. :goodvibes

Yay Vikings!

My inlaws, in the SW corner of MN, had a high temp of -25 yesterday. Yeeeah. We hit 18!

it's supposed to snow tomorrow, though I don't think we're getting the same as the northeast. Amusingly, it's also my post-op appointment and, hopefully, I'll be losing the crutches! It can snow all it wants after that.

We had a moment of "excitement" yesterday. We went to the Target with the small parking lot and.. my husband whipped around the corner and snagged the open handicapped space. He failed to notice a woman who had been waiting to approach the space. She rolled down her window and so did DH. She proceeded to yell at him and then drove forward. I rolled *my* window down and started to get her attention and was greeted, uncheerfully, with a witch with a capital b. At this point, I opened the car door, and stood up, crutches and all, saying "Ma'am! We'll move!" She saw the crutches, backed waaaaaaaaaaaay off and took the space that was across the aisle.

Yes. She was SCREAMING at us and cursing at us for a matter of two car widths parking space. I was totally willing to let her have the space, even if I had to crutch mile, because, dangit, IT IS A PARKING SPACE. ON A DRY SUNNY DAY. Not only that, she had her pre-teen daughter in the car, listening to her curse.

Oh good grief!! I was once rear-ended by a tailgater, so, at this point in my life, if someone is that angry/in that much of a hurry/whatever, you know what? GO AHEAD!

Ugh. It was DH's fault for "stealing" the space, but we were going to give it back, even without the ire she directed at us. :sad2:

Otherwise, my 2010 is going quietly. I hope for good things tomorrow; I'm 33 and I'm hopefully getting off crutches! Hooray!

When we were leaving my parents' a couple weeks ago my DH dug and pushed the car out in the morning, because he wanted to go use his Bass Pro Shop gift card. When he got back, instead of pulling into the driveway where my Dad had shoveled, he pulled back into his spot on the street, and got stuck again.
It was pretty funny.

I didn't get a waffle maker when we got married. My mom actually gave us her regular square waffle maker a few years ago, but I've always wanted a belgium one. I happen to think my neighborhood is cute too! :cutie: It's nice and quiet and Madison's school is only a few blocks away. During the summer, we always take walks to the playground.

Our 2010 has been very quiet so far, but I'm loving it. My DH has been off from work since the 23rd and it's been great having him home all the time. We've been playing all of Madison's new board games (Boggle, Clue, Connect 4x4, Twister) everyday. We've also been playing Mario Kart for the Wii against my DH's sister and brothers who live in Florida. It's so much fun just racing against a few other people.

No one in my house is looking forward to tomorrow. Maddie doesn't want to go back to school, my DH has a very busy week ahead of him at work and I'm not looking forward to being lonely. Our tree is still up, so maybe I'll start taking down decorations tomorrow. I hate when all the decorations are put away because the house looks so empty and sad.

I have a Winnie the Pooh waffle maker. My best friends daughter LOVES it. Every couple weeks my friend needs to borrow it so she can make tons of waffles and freeze them. Which is what I do too. So that will be one of my many tasks for my day off.

My year is going alright, worked every day of the year so far, so at least I'm making money. We've been insanely busy while only working with a skeleton crew, ugh oh well.

I need to get a Mickey waffle maker! Ive been eating eggos like crazy lately.

Our new year has been uneventful so far. Rylan goes back to school today. Not so sure he's looking forward to it. DH has put in only a few days at the office but hasn't had any flights. He's going to make up for it this month, though. He's on his way to Florida as I type and will be headed back down at the end of the month (which is when we will join him for our trip)

Chase and I will just resume our daily schedule of doing mommy/baby things. I'm doing my best to lose some more weight. I started the 30 Day Shred yesterday. We'll see if it works!

Hey Snowbird Friends! :goodvibes

We have a nice pile of snow up here as well! :) Our yard looks just like Meghans with a teeny bit more snow! I don't expect to see green in my yard again until late April! Our trip will be a bright spot for us in the middle of this dreary winter! Gotta get my vitamin D somehow! :lmao:

We do have a waffle iron but don't use it too much as the only really big waffle fan in our clan is my DH. The girls and I prefer pancakes! :)

Happy Birthday Sarah! Hope you have a super day and are able top get off those crutches soon!

Today is my first child free day! I have already been to the gym and am now getting ready to go get some groceries and make a trip to the library! I also promised the girls I would make them their 20 day countdown calendars today! I have a huge pile of mickey head paint samples burning a hole in my top dresser drawer! Gotta do something with them! :upsidedow

Hope everyone is having a great day! :goodvibes

Thanks!!! :cool2:

I am not off crutches NOR free from my brace, yet. Yet!! But I am allowed to be 100% weight bearing and go from two crutches + brace to one crutch + brace to brace to nothing. Forward progress! And I don't need to see the surgeon again until April 5th!

Also, he said it's a year of recovery. Funny how, three months ago, it was six months. Hmph! But that's okay, at some point, I won't even be thinking about "recovery" but I'll be living and I'm okay with that!

Have a great Monday, all!! :dance3::dance3:

Sarah - happy birthday!! :bday: :cheer2::banana:
I'm sure you're making good progress, but it always seems to take longer than you want right? Hang tough!

Kim - what a great day! I wish I was half that productive. Enjoy the rest of your kid-free day!

Good morning everyone! I haven't been on here since before Christmas, so I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Years (and if you celebrate something else, I hope that was good, too! :thumbsup2)

It was awfully hard to get moving today. Besides the bitter cold temperatures (I mean, if we're going to have temps in the single digits, I'd really like some snow to accompany it!!), I had to come back to work today - 1st time since before Christmas. I'm not adjusting very well to dress shoes (give me back my mammoth crocs :lmao:). Plus, this is the first time in a few years we don't have a Disney trip planned. Although, I had some encouraging news over the break....we're going to try to visit my mom in sunny California over spring break and DH said if we do we can make a short visit to Disneyland!!! WHOOHOO!! I don't care if I only get one day there...I'll take it! I'm having some serious Mickey withdrawal. :rotfl: Here's hoping we can find good airfare prices.
