good morning snowbirds.... another day... another day of work... trying to get DD packed to go back to college tomorrow... DS at the golf course already... hope youall have a wonderful day!!

Wish me luck- today is Andrew's Meet the Teacher/See the School thing. They're having donuts and juice and he gets to say hello to his teacher, see his room and school. Sounds fun. Here's where it gets hairy- I'm taking 6 kids to this thing AND feeding them sugary donuts while they are there. :scared1:
At around 6:30 I woke up and stared at the ceiling saying to myself "what were you thinking!!!" I've taken 6 kids out before, no biggie, but it's usually to the playground where they can run wild and be as loud as they want.

Live and learn I guess... never come between a woman and her pooping dog!!

Shawna--that's too funny! :rotfl:
Sorry you had to deal with that. I hate confrontation too. I admire you for keeping your cool! :thumbsup2 Hopefully she will sell her house soon.
Your dog is so cute! DD is sitting on my lap and got very excited, saying, "Doggie! Ruff ruff!"

Kimberly, your plans sound great! :cool1: Can I come too?

Becca, I seem to remember the swordfish fighting scene also, but no idea where that's from. I don't think I've ever seen "Bedknobs and Broomsticks". :confused3

We have just cracked up at watching her...to be so little, she is mighty quick!

Cute puppy!!

Welcome, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed (or, dare I say it... VOLDEMORT!).

As for swordfish, um, it's my dad's fish of choice, because he seems to be slightly allergic to salmon. And I have seen the scene in Bedknobs & Broomsticks. I bet my coworkers have never seen that movie, come to think of it!

As of today, I am 7 weeks out from surgery. :scared1: I'm still nervous/worried, though people who have been through surgery have been discussing their's with me... and it takes away fear of the unknown. I guess I'm less worried about the known (weeks on crutches, being dependent on everyone else), than what the hospital stay is like, etc. Sadly, I'm really not sleeping well and I've started what I call my "disease and pestilence" diet - aka, not eating properly due to stress/illness and dropping weight like no one's business. I never lose 4lbs in 10 days. I can barely lose 4lbs in a month when I'm trying!

Just asked my kids..they do not remember a swordfish scene in B&B. I didn't either... we used to watch it alllll the time ....I wasn't sure, thought maybe I just forgot about that part. But, they say no...not in that movie!!!!

thanks for liking my dog!! Ha!!! she really is cuter in person..dogs never quite look the same to me on a picture..don't know why!!!

Shoot! I wonder what we're thinking of then.... can I blame mine on sleep dep? Even though most of you are parents and probably handle it better than I do?! ;)

Sarah - We're looking at RC for our cruise next year. Looking at June / July. Maybe we need a Snowbird meet for the cruise!!

And, I have nothing to add about a swordfish, but figured I better add something! :lmao:

Sarah- You sound super nervous about your surgery:sad2: I'm sure everything will go well :thumbsup2 Try not to lose too much sleep over it- which is easier said than done I'm sure.:headache:

Shawna- your pup looks like a menace to the neighborhood, no wonder you neighbor doesn't like you! Just kidding,:upsidedow he's adorable and your neighbor needs to be an adult and take responsibility.

Well I survived visiting Andrew's school with all 6 kiddos (5 of which are quietly napping now :cloud9:). They were very well- behaved. I'm really getting nervous about him starting K now though. His teacher seems nice but she just doesn't give of the warm fuzzies like K teachers should. She's older and seems like a stickler for rules. I'm worried that the only experiences he's had are with me, his preschool and Sunday school and he's so used to teachers (and me) being animated and fun. I hope he clicks with her and I'm hoping my first impression is wrong. :sad2:

If you end up on the 6/24 cruise out of Harwich (and take a look, there was A HUGE price drop at the end of last week!), let me know! :hippie:

I have been assured by numerous people that it's like this from the day the decision is made to the day of surgery. But lack of sleep DOES make me a bit whiney. I try to think funny happy thoughts when lying in bed awake (like, writing a story or picking out clothing or shoes!).

Gosh, I can't imagine an un-fun kindergarten teacher. Maybe she's the type who gets nervous when with adults?

It wasn't so much her interaction with me it was the standoffishness (new word?) when she talked to Andrew and the other little girl that will be in his class. I walked out of there with the phrase "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" in my head:lmao: Perhaps I'm just overprotective and worrying about my baby too much. I need to realize he's 5 and not so much my baby anymore.

You realize that I'm 32 years old and my mom is dropping EVERYTHING for 2 weeks to take care of me post surgery.

He'll never not be your baby!

Sarah...sleep dep. never gets easy!! Ha!!! i remember walking around in a daze many times!! Ha!!! don't be nervous..at least not right now...wait til closer to time :rotfl: Really, you don't want to make yourself sick before you even get there!!! You need to just try to relax and tell yourself that this IS for the best and how happy you'll be when it's over and you are running around pain free!! And, know that many of us will be praying..just for you~!!

Kim... glad you are back home with all the munchkins...our secretary said the same thing about her sons 1st grade teacher yesterday. She asked her a question about spelling tests and the teachers response was "It's in your Welcome Packet..you can read about it". That was IT!!! She said all the parents & kids were in the room filling out paper work for her and when they finished they just walked out... she didn't give a welcome to my room speech or anything. She is very uneasy. but, she was already worried because he is kinda behind in reading/spelling...hence the spelling test question.!!! She made it clear what her concerns are and the lady just said... I will test him in Sept. WOW!!!! I am sure once it's just the kids, your sons teacher will really warm up...maybe they just had too many people in the room and she couldnt get to do one-on-one with all of you.hopefully!

Well, since we hs, I don't have a set time that we start school...usually around 9. we make beds, do some chores, all that kinda stuff before we get going. I let them sleep late last week and getting them up yesterday was murder!!!! I was up early today and started trying to get them up at 8. They are still dragging around like they are half dead....I am gonna feed them, and see if they wake up any better. All those poor kids who went back to school yesterday... I know they are dragging today! ha!!! I hoped if I made them get up early, by tonight they will be ready for bed no later than 9. BUT... I personally feel that I need a nap!! So, that is gonna mess us up if I do that. Lord, I hope I am not coming down with anything...maybe because I could NOT go to sleep last night(up til almost 1) up at 7:30 (and i HAVE to get 8hours) and I had a traumatic day yesterday.....Sounds like I will sleep well tonight~!!!!
Are ya'll getting any fall-like weather yet? Our air feels different...still warm, but you can definitely tell it's summer's end!!!

kim, what is the Maryland weather like around halloween? That's when we are shooting for our mini-trip!!!

You truly COULD do a Swordfish chat... I can't believe all of the notes about... LOL.

I am working on the "swordfish fight" as does kind of ring a bell... perhaps "Shanghaied"?

Shawna- Halloween weather is usually chilly but the last 2 years were in the mid 70's so who knows. :confused3 We usually get away with trick or treating in a sweatshirt or light jacket.

You realize that I'm 32 years old and my mom is dropping EVERYTHING for 2 weeks to take care of me post surgery.

He'll never not be your baby!
Oh Sara- you almost made me cry! My mom still introduces me as her baby and I'll be 31 next month. Motherhood definitely changes you!

LOL Welcome to the insanity!
It's not Nemo is it? For some reason I remember a scene like that right around when they are talking about Nemo's Dad and one says it was wicked dark down there- I find that "wicked dark" accent part funny. ;) Looks like it's gonna be a movie afternoon to check!

By the way, as a fellow HP fan- love the pic, screenname, and your location!

Shawna-That's so awful that you have a neighbor who's not so nice. Where I live, you can get fined if you don't scoop your dog's business. So, whenever you see someone walking their dog, they always have a plastic bag in their other hand! When we lived in our apt, they turned our building into a dog friendly building (we were the only ones there that didn't have a dog by the time we moved out). In their contract it stated that they had to clean up after their dogs and they had to walk them in designated areas. Well that never happened, especially in the winter. We were always greeted with yellow snow whenever we'd leave or enter the building and there was always doggie doo EVERYWHERE! We would constantly contact the building managers and they would send out flyers reminding everyone of the contract that they signed. Who knows what it's like there now, but I'm glad we're not there anymore! :rotfl:

I also got 2 cards, but I know that at least 8 APs were purchased. So I sent Disney an e-mail per the instructions on the passholder site.

We'll see what they say!

And I have no words of wisdom to contribute regarding swordfish!

I'm trying to get a hold of my people before I contact Disney. I just want to make sure they all actually used the cards. Thus far I have only heard back from one. Luckily it was the one who requested the card for a neighbor, so I would not have been able to give a name otherwise.
She said her friend did purchase 3 passes, so I should at least receive 1 more.
According to my calculations, based on what I can find on here about how many each of my people said they were going to buy (from PMs and the thread I used to find my people), I should have received 12 cards.
I am hoping that I hear back from the others. Maybe I should go ahead and send in their names, and if I get a response that says they need names of everyone who got a pass I can change my inquiry to my people.

I really can't think of where I saw it from. I know it was animated, and it seemed to fit in Bedknobs & Broomsticks...

Hmm...I wonder where I got it from.

Don't worry. My kindergarten teacher was one of those weathered old ladies. (she was one of the teachers that the other parents wanted their kids transferred away from, because they thought she would be mean) She ended up being wonderful. She was excellent at getting all the children to listen and cooperate, but we had a lot of fun too.
She ended up retiring either the year I graduated from High School or the year after.

We had some fall-like weather on Sunday, but it's hot and nasty again today (yesterday wasn't as bad) I was hoping it'd start getting chilly soon. Fall would be my favorite season, if I didn't like all the others so much.

That looks familiar, but I distinctly remember two swordfishes fighting under the water.

The swordfish is in Nemo!!!!! Everyone go put in their DVD's now and find it :goodvibes

The funny thing is that we really have spent the day talking about swordfish:lmao:

Really?! Nemo?!
I really thought it was regular animation. Oh well... at least I'm not crazy.

I just e-mailed Disney about my Gift Cards. I figure if my people get back to me, then I can e-mail again with more information.
It'd be great if they can send me my allotment without more information though.

YUCK!!! Yeah, it was a pretty 'crappy' situation:rotfl::lmao: Oh well...
like I said, I know dogs are gonna poop when they are out... but if you just keep on walking it to a certain area every day...that's poop central. and if you know kids are gonna play there, why keep doing it? that was what i was trying to tell her, but she probably didn't hear a word i said...she was soooooLOUD! I know I was yelling at one point and she was still talking above my voice!!!!

Kim, glad you figured that out! What's our topic for tomorrow? This week, we have had dog poop, nutty neighbors, and swordfish fights. What could top that?

How old do you have to be for that tour? My youngest is 6 and I really think they would enjoy it.

According to wdwinfo.com, "Children must be accompanied by an adult". We saw a couple of kids on another tour, but we didn't have any on ours. I suppose it just depends on your kids' interests.
