Sarah, I will have to think about that!! I agree with Becca..Branson, did it don't want to do it again!! We went up there for the Passion Play (In Eureka Springs Ark, and just went on up there)which was great!!, but other than that I didn't like it at all!!! I was bored!!
Well, when Ithink of somethin' I will let you know! Are ya'll all coming from the same general area, or are you all gonna have to travel to meet where ever you go? Is there any thing that's definitely out of the question?
Just wanted to tell ya'll that our weekend was great! the Phantom of the Opera is amazing!!! It's by Broadway Across America...ya'll should check and see if it's coming to anywhere close to you!! We get Mary Poppins in Oct/Nov!!!! They also are doing Grease, South Pacific, Meet Me in St.Louis, and I think one more. It was really beautiful!!!

I love Phantom!! I would love to go see it again. I think I've seen it 3 times. I'll have to see it it's coming here, and where it is. If it's at Bass Hall in Fort Worth, I'm so going. I would love to see Les Miserables again. I've seen it 3 times as well, but you can't see either of those too many times.

Have you thought of an Alaskian cruise? My mom is planning on our family doing that some day. Then you could add whale watching in Seattle, or other site see'ing there.

My parents are on an Alaskan cruise as we speak! They went because we recommended it, since we went on one last year.

So chances are low that we'd do another, especially since the DH and I would prefer interior AK (and we're already planning our return). But we'll see what my parents think when they return.

(It was AMAZING. Just... AMAZING. But interior was cooler!)

Well, everyone but DH and I would be coming from New England and even the New Englanders might fly out of different airports!

It's hard to think of something that might work. Right now, we range in age from 30-80. My mom thinks she's a "sit on the beach and read a book person," my dad isn't and he disagrees with my mom anyway, my brother and wife are uber-explorers (they spent a year in Europe for giggles and recently got back from a very active 2 week vacation in Hawaii). My aunt and uncle are probably the old people you see on tour groups... and DH and I fall somewhere between it all.

So... we couldn't even go somewhere that didn't have a billion things to do. Frankly, central Florida might simply BE the best option - from Universal Studios, to Disney World, to Cape Canavral. Pools, water parks, amusement parks, culture...!

Phantom of the Opera is my all time favorite musical. I've seen it 3 times and I love the movie too. When I was in high school, my parents used to give us tickets to musicals in Toronto as a gift. We saw Phantom (the two other times were school trips), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (with Donny Osmond), Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Now, my parents have season tickets to a local theater here that gets all the big tours. I'm thinking about adding on an additional ticket for myself this upcoming season. I don't remember what's coming through Buffalo, but I just love musicals!

Okay boys and girls....just got FD!!!!! They have released the code, so yippee for me:cheer2:Praise the Lord!! We are so glad to get that!! Saved us a little more than $1200!! Wooo Hooo!! If they offered 40% off a room the diff would only have been about $200, so this is awesome!! Considering that we are at CR ThPrk view!!!!!!! Can ya'll tell I am excited!!!!!
Thanks Kim(Canada kim!!) for the heads up! I was outta the loop this weekend~~~ For those of ya'll going in Jan, I know you are gonna get a good deal too.....This code ends on Dec 16 tho. Our dates are till the 13th. I wonder if for Jan it's gonna be the 4/3 thing again?

CONGRATS!!:banana: That's great news for you guys. Hopefully they will offer that next year. I can't wait for the 2010 packages to come out so I can at least book our trip.

Congrats! :woohoo:

I see they are now offering 28-39% off resorts for Oct, Nov, and Dec. Bookings must really be down. I sure hope all these discounts don't draw in huge crowds! :scared:

I am going to have to do the math one more time, but I am pretty sure that Free Dining beats the 35%/40% off for us. Just by a little! I remember that it was pretty close.

I know...hopefully the crowds will be low!!! I looked at it, and if we would have been offered 40% off the room it would have been less than $200 diff...probably closer to $150 after room taxes and all that. All of us except Gracie are considered adult on the DDP now, so that does work out great for us!!! I mean, you gotta eat when you are there!!
Shelly, have you gotten to figure out when you are going? I know you were waiting to see if Nov was gonna work with his job...you gotta find out if you need to make ADRs!!!
Which poses a question for you all.. I asked the CM this morning-who was really good--about the 90+10 for making ADRs, she said no, It's 90 days out only. Is this right or not? I am confused!! I guess I will just wait till 100 days and see what happens!

It looks like we are going in November!!:yay: The 7th through the 15th! :cool1:

I can make my ADR's on August 9th. Which is a Sunday. Hopefully I can get through right away and get things taken care of and we won't be late for church! :rotfl:

Shawna - I am pretty sure your CM gave you the wrong info. As long as you are staying at a Disney resort (which obviously you are) you can call at exactly 90 days before the first day of your trip and make all of your ADR's. It has always been that way. Well, it used to be 180 days, but you know what I mean! Otherwise you would have to call everyday for like 8-9 days, however long your trip is.

I know I'm asking a lot of questions these days and here's another!

My brother is already thinking long-term. My parents 40th wedding anniversary is in 2011. He wants to do a family trip. He originally suggested a place in Maine... I kind of vetoed it because, well, family + an area with not a lot to do.

I suggested that we needed something that was more resort oriented, where we could split up and meet for dinner and we wouldn't be all glued together at the hips.

Of course, all I could suggest was a cruise (which he isn't interested in) or Disney World. We're a family of Disney nuts (well, my parents, my brother, myself... my husband enjoys it in moderation and apparently my sister in law can take it or leave it!), so it's not a bad idea. My aunt (who is significantly older than my mom) was my mom's matron of honor and so we want to be sure to invite her (she and my uncle - who is nearly 80 - are still very mobile) and we know that my conservative uncle loooooooooooved the Magic Kingdom (he just throught the details were amazing).

But, beyond that... anyone have any other ideas? It should probably stay in the continental US and it ought to be a resort type of place. Pretend cost isn't a concern, if you need!!

(We'll probably end up at Disney, but I want to have other options when we talk to my parents!)

I know it's not a resort, but how about NYC? There's plenty to do for all age groups! Or perhaps Cape Cod? There are several resorts there.

It's not 100 days, it's 90 + 10. Let's say that you're arriving on Dec. 1, staying until Dec. 10 and you're staying on site. Your 100 day mark is Aug. 23. You cannot make ADRs on Aug. 23.

Your 90 day mark is Sept. 2. You can make your ADRs now. And you can make them on Sept. 2 for Dec. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. If you were staying off site, you could call on Sept. 2, but book only for Dec. 1. You'd have to call on Sept. 3 to book for Dec. 2, and so on.

Does that make sense?

I'm going to see Phantom on Broadway in October! I'm so excited! I have never seen it, have heard great things, and am going with a good friend. I love day trips to NYC!

Yay! Yes, you will love it!! It was beautiful!!! Glad you get to go!!!
If anyone is interested in seeing Little Mermaid in NYC, it's about to end!!! Not sure, but soon.

Oh, thanks girls for the 90+10 clear up! I was totally wrong and not getting that!! Ha!!! Well, I think I am gonna try the online thing. Have ya'll heard if it's working pretty good so far? Or is it better to just call the ressie #? I have quite a while to wait, so I will see how everyone is doing with it. I am curious to see how quickly it goes!!!

Sarah, I will have to think about that!! I agree with Becca..Branson, did it don't want to do it again!!

I remember thinking the whole time that Disney was so much better, and that was even before I had stayed on the property.

YAY! If we make it in December our dates will be somewhere around there. Logan's B-Day is the 14th. I'm thinking the 12th-17th, but I suppose it depends on the time we can both get off work (assuming I have a job by then)
I guess I should probably wait until we find out info from the military before I get too hopeful.

Shelly - if for some reason my birthday works out better than Logan's for us (if we can go at all) then we'll be there around the same time as you. (My b-day is Nov 5th)

I love how everyone is talking about codes and discounts!! ( I secretly kinda hate it too....cus I'm not going...but it's all in love ;))

My chiropractor is in Disney World right now, and he has been texting me the entire time. He's have a great time, they got Rock N Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror (5 minute wait) twice. Did Kali River Rapids today twice, Everest, safari and nemo show. I'M SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!

Keep up the planning...I'll live through you guys then :flower3:

Thanks for the suggestions!!

I always always always forget about the Cape and I'm not sure why. I guess I think it's somewhere else? ;)

I did online dining before we'd booked our trip :rolleyes1 and I thought it was great. It offered other times if the one I wanted wasn't available (within a 2 hour block) OR if the restaurant wasn't (like, it laughed at me for Le Cellier), it offered other nearby restaurants and similar times.

Then it sent me an email confirmation which was also super!

But, oh, in kind of a "...bummer" sort of thing, I emailed my surgeon today (per his request - he wanted to hear from me at 4 weeks from my post-op).

I wrote:
Four weeks ago, at my post-op appointment, you told me to email you in four weeks.

So.

At this point, I think I'm well recovered from the plica/scar tissue removal surgery that you did on June 26th. My knee no longer feels swollen, so I can walk more easily and I can navigate stairs normally (I hate elevators). Also, it no longer hurts to drive, like it used to. It's a good thing.

Unfortunately, I'm not yet sure that the surgery took care of all my issues. You did say six weeks and it has been just over four, so who knows. The near constant aching has returned in my knee, which has me gritting my teeth to distract from it.

Oh well. How should I proceed from here? Also, is there anything else you want to know?

His reply:
this is exactly the same pain you had before the recent scope? If so, perhaps we will need to entertain the option of the osteotomy

Yes, that was my entire email (greeing/sign off omitted) and his entire reply (without his name). At first, his replies sort of infuriated me because, really, short much? Then I realized he uses a Blackberry and, hey, he uses email which is much more convenient for me.

Anyway, that's NOT the answer I wanted. I kind of wanted him to say that I should stick it out the two more weeks, that things would change a lot, and so on and so forth. I haven't replied because the whole thing makes me grumpy, especially since my DH says, everytime I complain about pain, that it's "just like before surgery." Rats, but I guess he DOES listen!!

Oh well. Thanks for listening to me complain!!

Sarah! I am hating that for you!!!! Hopefully the next 2 weeks will be more healing time for you. i will be prayin' for you that it just gets better and better!!!

We'll keep praying that your knee will get better. Hopefully with prayers and pixie dust you won't need the osteotomy. Honestly, I didn't know what that was, so I google'd it. I guess the only bright side if you do have to have it, is that your doctor considers you too young to have a total knee replacement (I know not as good as getting carded for buying alcohol.), and it isn't a total knee replacement.

Sorry, I forgot to explain what it is. As you can see, it's major surgery. I'm an excellent candidate because I'm young, I'm bow legged, and the damage I do have is on the inside of my knee only. The osteotomy would shift weight from the inside of my knee to a more normal balance. While the cartilage will never heal, my dad works for a company that's the leader in patching it up. Without going in to a lot of discussion (which I had, then deleted  ), I may be able to avoid a knee replacement, which is pretty exciting.

Also, an osteotomy, whenever I have it, will allow me to be 100% normal when healed. I can't run, now, because it hurts. I'll be able to, post-surgery. I'd just need to get... post surgery. It wouldn't be a lot of fun getting there, that's for sure!!
