OK, Snowbirds, I have an offer for one of you; I just don't know which one. I have a pin (a trading one, not a code!) from the Ft. Wilderness Segway tour. I don't do pins. Please note that I only have one pin.

If you have an only child, since I will not be a party to starting a sibling war ;), and that child is a pin collector, please PM me. I will be happy to send it out to you, rather than just tossing it.

Sorry, no picture that I could find.

I am gonna go over there right now and do the friend invite thing...I reallllly need to put more pix on there...I guess i will just have to have Mike do it for me!! Ha!!!! What's really hard is getting the pix from Photbucket to here!!!! GEEZ---I am such a dork!

Add me. Adddddddd meeeeeeee. You can search for me under this username, too!!

TGIF, thank you very much!

I posted on LiveJournal yesterday that my knee feels great. You all know what that means, right? Go ahead, point and laugh! The universe seems to be doing so, too!

Other than Kim-going-to-the-beach what else do people have planned for the weekend?!

Okay Sarah, I am gonna go add you when I get caught up on this board!! Stupid question...where/how do I put my Disney name on Facebook ...and what (wookie) is Farmville? I am sooo clueless. I haven't done FB much, had to join to get something...can't even remember what it was now. Anyway, I only check it every now and then, but still learning. So!!!
We are going to Houston this afternoon. It's about an hour and a half SW of me. My bday is tomorrow, so Mike got us tickets to the Broadway Across America....Phantom of the Opera and we are staying over at the Woodlands. That is a little area outside Houston that has woods and doesn't feel like you are in the city. That is the name of the town too! They have a place (HUGE) where we sometimes go for concerts, outdoor ampitheater, and a mall and best of all.....the Cheesecake Factory!!! YUM!!! So, we are gonna go and have fun this weekend!!!
We usually go out of town to my moms---closer to Dallas ---a few times a year too. Well, this year with baseball and ballet, we couldn't find a weekend to go. Then Mike got super busy(Praise the Lord!!) and now it's just been to hot!!!! Here in Texas, everything is a looooong drive from everything else. so, we only have time right now to do 3day weekends....unless it's a 3 hour range or so...forget it! Too much time taken up in the car..not enough time to actually enjoy anything.SO, we havent went ANYWHERE since our Jan Disney trip. We did run to the homeschool store in Houston last Sat.. but we didn't do anything. That was just a have to thing. Anyway, we are looking forward to some fun time!!!
Of course, the weather in Houston today is upper 90s and 100...with a heat index of 105! Lovely....sweating in a city of concrete!!! YIKES!!
What are ya'll gonna do this weekend?

Farmville is an application/game thingy on Facebook. You plant and gather stuff from seeds, trees, and animals. It's like having your own farm, just no poo shoveling. It's really fun and addicting to try and get money from it. Also, there is one called Farkle that is a dice game that I love too. On facebook I'm listed under Kim Swann if you want to add me.

OOHHH yay! I am gonna go add ya!!! Okay girlies...Mike should be home here in about 30 minutes...then we are gonna get!!! TTFN

Kim...do you know how many Kim/Kimberly Swanns on on FB?!! Which one are you? How do I narrow it down to you? HELP!!

Are there a lot? I haven't checked. :lmao:My profile pic is a Twilight one. It has Bella on Edward's back and under the picture it says "Save a horse, ride a vampire".

Actually, it might be easier to find me if you add my maiden name, now that I think about it. Try looking up Kim Richey Swann.

Meghan,
I just got around to reading your June trip report. It is wonderful! It gets me even more excited for our upcoming trip (3 weeks!). Also, I was starting to wonder if we had made the right decision by scheduling ourselves for the am EMH park each day. Now, I think we are correct and that we can get alot done in that extra hour.
Thanks!

I'm so glad that you're enjoying my TR and that I could help you out with EMH. It worked out so well for us and I hope it does for you too! :goodvibes

I added you :goodvibes Don't even get me started on Photobucket- we are enemies today!!! I took forever to resize pics for my PTR and they are still huge! :headache::mad:

I switched to the Google Photo Library program... I like it much better than Photobucket

I know it's a bleak reason for going back to school, but at least if something does happen I will be able to support the boys.
Oh and the one rule I have about going back to school is that I get to go to Disney and I get the trip I want. Which includes the CR MK view room. I'll take the semester off we go so I don't have to worry about school. Devry isn't like normal colleges. The classes there only last 8 weeks, so the trip will only delay me 8 weeks.

I think any reason that a woman uses to go back to school is a good enough one.
My Mom has been in school for as long as I remember. Right now she's working on her teaching certification and a Masters in Special Education. She takes terms off all the time so she can go places. She took one off last year when my sister had her baby, and another for my wedding.
My Dad got cancer before she finished her Bachelor's degree. If he hadn't recovered she would have had a difficult time supporting us (5 of the 6 of us were still under 18 at the time)

I'm glad your DD did so well with her ultrasound. Hopefully it will be the last one she has to have until she's an adult and it's to see if it's having a boy or girl.

Ick, I'm hoping all I have is an icky tummy and not food poinsoning. We woke up late and ate lunch at 3 PM. At about midnight every one was hungry again, so I went out for Taco Bell. Well Taco Bell was closed, so I went to Whataburger. Everyone but me got breakfast stuff and I got a bacon cheeseburger. We were watching Warehouse 13 on hulu.com so I wasn't paying attention to the burger. When I finally looked at it, I noticed the meat was mostly pink on the inside.

Well I've decided to go back to school. By decided I mean that my DH said I could either go back to school or get a job. I have it narrowed down to 3 things. Either computer programming, biomedical engineering (repair medical equipment), or nursing.

I vote nursing! (mainly because I wish I would've done it!) I've worked in healthcare, and the nurses get paid well, especially for only having a two-year degree, and have more flexible schedules (after the first couple of years). There's just so many different directions you could go with nursing. Just my opinion...you know we'll support you in whatever you decide!!

One of these days I may go back to school...I just need to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I haven't been able to find a degree program for "Independently Wealthy":woohoo:

Sounds like your mom is an amazing woman.

I was leaning toward nursing, but I am very afraid of needles. It's strange the blood in the vials doesn't bother me, but show me a needle and I feel like I'm going to pass out or barf or both. The main reason I was leaning toward it was that when I was in the hospital with Joey the ones nurse that made me feel like I was going to be ok, was this one nurse who had been through what I was going through. Her son was born very early and was very tiny, and was at the time 18 and over 6 feet tall. I thought about doing a lab tech type degree where I would do the test on the blood, but not have to draw it. The only thing is that my mother in law said that I wouldn't just be doing test on blood but other things as well.
I'm thinking about the computer programming b/c I won't have to deal with a lot of people. My DH says I will mainly be in a cubicle with a computer. Then there is a possibility that once I've been in the field a while, I might be able to work form home. Also, with the issues that my youngest son has (Epilepsy & mild Autism Spectrum Disorder) being able to work from home is a big advantage. If I'm working in a hospital I can't take the patients home with me if I get a call from the school and have to leave. However with computer programming there is the possibility that I can take my work home with me. Not sure if that makes sense or not, but it makes sense in my head.
My sister thinks I should be a paralegal. She's a lawyer and thinks I would make a great one. I just think the hours would be too long, and the stress level wouldn't agree with my not very controlled blood pressure. Anyway, I'm rambling so I'm going to head off to FB and my farms.

So I just priced Disney for December (just for fun - I probably shouldn't have)

I figured out if they do release Free Dining to the General Public soon, then it would actually be a better deal for us at a Value, even if we paid the extra for the Regular Dining Plan and a one day ticket for myself (I think we could probably just get a one-day ticket for Logan as well, and get the tickets combined though, so we wouldn't lose the money, which would make it an even better deal).

For Mods the AP discount is marginally better. It would be more so if we wouldn't pay the extra for a King Sized Bed. Free Dining would be better if we didn't have to pay for the extra one-day ticket, though that's not really a "loss."

For the Wilderness Lodge, which is where we would most likely stay if we were to go Deluxe again, the AP discount is better.

We will probably end up at POP regardless, but I like pricing all the options.

I know I'm asking a lot of questions these days and here's another!

My brother is already thinking long-term. My parents 40th wedding anniversary is in 2011. He wants to do a family trip. He originally suggested a place in Maine... I kind of vetoed it because, well, family + an area with not a lot to do.

I suggested that we needed something that was more resort oriented, where we could split up and meet for dinner and we wouldn't be all glued together at the hips.

Of course, all I could suggest was a cruise (which he isn't interested in) or Disney World. We're a family of Disney nuts (well, my parents, my brother, myself... my husband enjoys it in moderation and apparently my sister in law can take it or leave it!), so it's not a bad idea. My aunt (who is significantly older than my mom) was my mom's matron of honor and so we want to be sure to invite her (she and my uncle - who is nearly 80 - are still very mobile) and we know that my conservative uncle loooooooooooved the Magic Kingdom (he just throught the details were amazing).

But, beyond that... anyone have any other ideas? It should probably stay in the continental US and it ought to be a resort type of place. Pretend cost isn't a concern, if you need!!

(We'll probably end up at Disney, but I want to have other options when we talk to my parents!)

We went to Branson last year.
It was fun, but I would pick Disney over it any time. It was either sitting around the condo playing games, or going to shows or dinner with the whole family.
We did go shopping at an outlet mall one day, (my sister needed maternity clothes) but that was all. If it had been warmer, we could have gone to the lake one day, but it was pretty cold.

Other than a cruise, the only other places I can think of are All-Inclusive resorts, they can be pricey though.

Have you thought of an Alaskian cruise? My mom is planning on our family doing that some day. Then you could add whale watching in Seattle, or other site see'ing there.
