Has anyone heard from Soliel, Carrie(Peach3s) or trixiequilts? Are they not coming back because it's not a Jan 2010 thread? Just curious..I haven't been keeping up with that one...I need to...So, are the only ones of us NOT going back in Jan me, Shelly, and Sheree?

We haven't done a QOTD for a while, anybody have a good one?

I'm not going back in January. I know that I just went again, but I'd love to have another Snowbird meet in Jan! I don't have a QOTD, but I was wondering how everyone's summer is going.

Madison started soccer and swimming lessons the week we got back from our trip. She plays soccer on Wed evenings and Sat afternoons. It's a rec league and they play 4 on 4 with no goalie or official score. She has such a good time! She also loves her swimming lessons. Today started our VBS and it was so much fun! (We're doing Crocodile Dock) It's my 5th year volunteering and I always do games. It's so nice to be outside and not cooped up in the church all day. Madison has been going unofficially for 5 years. We have nursery care for the volunteers kids, so she did that for 3 years. She was finally able to fully participate last summer (the kids have to be 5yo by July 31) and had a blast. She had a great time today too. Plus, she started her summer Irish dancing lessons tonight. We're busy busy busy!!!!

Wow Meghan you sure ARE busy so far this summer!

Wow that's a short summer break. Do they get long breaks during the school year? I know most schools get longer breaks during the school year than we do, but then we get over 3 months off in the summer! So I'll take it!

The kids have a few fun things coming up. DH's work picnic - they have a blast at that, big blow-up slides and jumpy things, snow-cones and popcorn. VBS is every night next week. And we have a DIS meet coming up in Pittsburgh in a few weeks - that will be fun!

How do know when/where DIS meets are? Is it a meet for all DISser's or just a small group that decided to get together. I'm not inviting myself I was just wondering

OOO I totally forgot about Walt's brithday, that would be really cool to be at the MK and ride PotC on his birthday. Besides it is a week earlier.

I like the way you think. I agree that the view is worth the extra money, besides it's only $770. My John (DS10) really wants to have dinner in the room one night and watch the fireworks in our PJ's.

Right now the plan is to not tell the boys anything about the trip. We are just going to wake them up, get them dressed and see if they figure it out. I would like to do MVMCP one night, but if we don't we can see the fireworks from the balcony if we stay at the CR. Then I really want to do the Candlelight Processional. However I just realized that Joey (DS11) will be turning 13 on November 13, 2010, and it would be cool to take him to WDW on his 13th birthday. If we went in November I think we would still be able to do MVMCP. Now I just need to convince my DH that it would be worth the extra money. However if we did that for Joey's 13th, I know John would expect it for his. I wouldn't hate the idea, I just don't know if we can afford to go again that soon since they are only 13 months apart in age.

I think it would be really fun to go during Walt's birthday. I have no opinion about the resorts since all I do is drool when I think of staying at any Deluxe. Never had the pleasure of staying at one...someday.

I sent a PM to Carrie a long while back but never got a reply. I don't know if she visits the DISboards anymore now that her trip is over.

I think Soleil is just busy keeping up with her PTR and the 2010 thread. I'm sure she'll pop in to say hello soon. She'd miss us too much to leave us!

I sure do miss Trixie's eye candy she used to post though. Arrrgh Maties I love me some Cap'n Jack!

I've started to make my list of "must-do's" this next trip...Dole Whip (never had one), see Spectro Magic (never seen it), see the Lion King show at AK...then other stuf is just little stuff-Relax, walk around the Boardwalk at night, skip a park if the kids would rather just swim...basically just try not to do it all!!

My trip this fall is going to be more like this than the last one my best friend and I went on. That was a commando trip - three days, four parks. Yeah. This one she wants to see the Hall of Presidents (the history major in me weeps as it was SO wrong on so many levels), see more shows, ride the Tea Cups. Probably more fireworks. Of course, it's going to be hotter than you know where so this is probably a good plan!

I'm not going back this January, either! My husband is good for a few more years... plus there's that whole tentative knee surgery thing. If (probably when, at this point ) I have it, it's 3 months on crutches, which means I'll be getting off crutches right around Christmas.

Tonight, in fact, I tried to do some of my physical therapy and my knee made some strange sounds when I tried to do a half-squat. Plus, pain. Dangit!!

Now I'm wondering if going to Six Flags Great America on Thursday is a good idea or if I should take it easy. I'm going to be on my feet Friday and Saturday. This was going to be a hubby'n'me only day but it's no good if make myself miserable because of pain.

I was just thinking about Carrie the other day and wondering what she is doing.

We are going back in August (in 4 weeks!) and not in January.

Okay, I feel better!! Ha!! I thought we were the only lonely three..don't know how I forgot ya'lls plans I am a goofball...And I forgot about Meghan going again already...I am thinking toward fall I guess.
Well, as far as summer, we are just trying to avoid heat stroke here. Man is it hot...heat index this week is up to 107 We are letting the kids swim in the morning and then about 11 it's time to get out or get fried. We don't swim again until about 5:30 or 6, it's still pretty sunny and hot then. I know many of you know we homeschool and do a little different summer schedule than our local ps. I used to start the last week of July, and we finished the end of April. Well, this year, it's been just soooo hot, that we actually started the Monday after July 4th weekend. So, we are in week 2 already We are going to do 6 weeks on and a week off until Thanksgiving. This way during the hottest part of the day, we are schooling and still getting to enjoy summer swims and fun stuff. We just kinda eased in this last few days with our History. We will add in more as the days go by. We did go to Houston Sat for a day out...and dangit, it was hot. We are hoping to go see the Phantom of the Opera and Mary Poppins on Broadway, when they come to Houston. August and Sept I think...anyway, we will probably make 3day weekends outta that and just hang out!!!! I am excited!!!!
Sarah...girl, take it easy on that knee!!!! did you call your surgeon and tell him what happened...or is it something to be expected?

OK, so my sister's bff can use and many prayers and good thoughts that she can get tomorrow. Tomorrow morning at about 6:45 am central time, she is going to have her c-section to have her baby. She wasn't supposed to have it until the 21st, but her blood pressure is still high and the doc said the baby was big enough.

I will pray for her!! My last two were C's and they were both 10 days early...they'll be fine!!! She will be so glad when she gets her hands on that little angel!!!

Well since it's 11 pm. I'd most likely be leaving a park (probably standing in line waiting for a bus).

Both of mine were by c-section. The first one was an emergency c-section, and the other I elected to do a c-section.

ooohhhh..good question Shelly!!! Well, it's 8:30 here..9:30 at WDW...I would be getting ready to head out and leave the hotel. we usually stay out there pretty late, so we don't get up early....we may be on the monorail/bus by now..if not, definitely headed that way!!!!

Haven't heard anything from Carrie. Soleil is helping Kim over on the January 2010 thread. I talk to Trixie nearly everyday. I will tell her that we started this Snowbird Chat here and invite her! She didn't feel right joining the Janaury 2010 thread since she isn't going then and doesn't have any Disney trips planned right now.

Well this isn't technically an official DIS meet. I think there might be a forum or a thread for that. This is a small group of people I have been chatting with since early 2007. We all went to Disney in May 2007 and some of us went in May 2008. We all still chat everyday. A couple of us live near Pittsburgh and one is coming to Pittsburgh on a trip, so we are having a meet!

My afternoon just went a little downhill. My husband called to tell me that his Dad called and they just diagnosed his mom with breast cancer. She didn't want to tell anyone until she knew for sure. She goes for an MRI and surgery Friday to remove the lump and they'll test it and determine if her lymphnodes need to be removed as well and if radiation is needed.

If you could keep her in your thoughts I would appreciate it.

Hmmm....it's about 3:30pm here so I'm not sure what we'd be doing. A few weeks ago at this time, we'd be leaving our hotel after our afternoon break and heading back to a park.
