Great news about the DVC stay - we loved AKL even with a pool view! Remember that you also get the DVC price on the AP - it's about $100 less than regular. And then you can also get the TiW card, which is my FAV!

So sorry about your trip to Europe, though. I understand about the costs. And I apologize, but I'm just so darned excited :yay:

I'm going to London!
:cheer2::cheer2::banana:

I've wanted to go to England forever, and in May, due in part to British Airways' strike, I got a $275 credit with them. Then they announced their sale, and I convinced a friend, so we're doing a long weekend in March! It's probably the most spontaneous trip I've ever booked - it took less than 6 days to decide! I never do that! :rotfl2:

WOW!! Good for you!! England is so cool - history, architecture all that good stuff!! While we were planning to go, I was poring over the guidebooks! You will have a great time! I wish I had a credit for airfare! That was the biggest expense.

I really have to think ahead on the future trips to decide about the AP. We were planning a few (2 or 3) short trips, but they might not be within a year. Hmmmm....

WOW!! Congrats on the London trip!! It would have only taken me 6 minutes!!!:rotfl: I will get there someday!!
Sheree! Sorry you are cancelling...but to swap for Disney is NOT a bad trade in my book!!! If I can't swing Europe, give me WDW anyday!!!!!

I had, like, a day total in London this summer. It's a LOT of fun. We did a walking tour and saw everything from the changing of the guard:

See? Heading towards the palace. by sarbah77, on Flickr

to World Cup Football (soccer) games, being watched outdoors:

England scores! by sarbah77, on Flickr

And, oh, the British Museum! The world treasures that they stole... er, uh, BORROWED and put in their museum. The Rosetta Stone!

We found the subway super-easy to navigate and an easy way to get around town, too.

Have FUN!

Wow everyone's making great vacation plans!

Sheree- Sorry to hear you're postponing your Europe trip but using DVC points cushions the blow a bit doesn't it :goodvibes

Hooray for London!!!

Not much going on here.

I had the fire chief come yesterday to show the kids his gear and truck. It was a big hit and the kids loved it! My one little guy is 4 and he turned to me at one point and said "Ms. Kim, You rock!" because I got a firefighter to come to my house. :lmao: Sometimes I really love my job. :goodvibes

Andrew and my 4 yr old daycare boy worked together to build this cool firetruck out of Legos. I told them it rocked.

We're getting set for Halloween this weekend. Andrew is going to be Indiana Jones and Em is going to be Little Mermaid. Hopefully we're going Saturday to get pumpkins. Jason has to work until 1pm. :headache: I think I hate his work as much as he does these days. I may take the kids to the Disney Store Saturday morning because they are having a special TS3 Storytime.

What's everyone have planned for the weekend?

OMG, OMG, OMG-my mom/TA is booking our trip right now. The house deal fell thru for my sister, but she's still looking. TOTALLY not in the budget right now, but OH WELL!!! I'm nervous , excited :yay:, a little bit nauseaus...
The kicker was, Drew and I were in the car on this kind of windy, hilly backroad yesterday, and we went over a bump, and Drew says, "WOW, that was just like Space Mtn. I really miss Disney." Completely out of the blue. So I called my mom who is generally el-cheapo, and she was like BOOK IT! WHAT???:scared1: She's supposed to be my voice of reason. But not when it comes to travel, she LOVES to travel. I talked to Andy, who is NEVER the voice of reason when it comes to money, and he, of course, said to do it. SO, flights were still below 150/pp/RT WITH taxes and fees this morning, so I told her to just DO IT! I need a drink to calm the nerves!!! :drinking1

Hooray for you Jenny!!!!!!! :banana::banana:

What are your dates? I see a ticker in your near future!!!!!:cool1:

That IS a really good deal on airfare.

Kim - The firefighter was a cool idea.

London... how exciting.... maybe someday when we are done with college tuition and have the house paid off we will get back to Europe!!! Great deal on the air fare

Kim.... firefighter... great idea!!!!

Sheree... sorry about your Europe trip but YEAH for the DVC trip!!!!!!

Yes, we pay the final tuition bill in December; that certainly helped a LOT! I figure it's now my time! And I think I'm actually flying to London for less than I'm flying to Orlando!:scared1:

Kim - cool of you to have the firefighter come!

Jenny - WOO Freakin HOO!!! Hope you got that drink! I wish I could get airfare for $150 RT to anywhere!!! That is awesome!

So last night after the kids went to bed, DH and I were talking about our plans for the upcoming trip that the kids don't know about.
Discussing dining. He'd been doing some research (I LOVE this guy!) and thinks we should just book at least one or two TS meals each day and pay OOP so we can just order what we feel like.
Since Sarah will be 10, we don't want to do DDP for her since she eats nothing but chicken nuggets anyway.
But we already have 2 meals planned, so why not a few more? We like to take the break and be waited on (well I do!).
I lay in bed for about an hour thinking of where we should eat!
Then this morning I got to thinking - I HAVE to tell my DIS friends!!!
I thought some more and realized how important the DIS has become to me. You all are so helpful, thoughtful, fun and interesting and I have not met most of you in person!!! I really REALLY value you and these boards. I can only imagine how different my trips would have been without you. Heck, I may not have gone so many times since they wouldn't have been as great!
So, I know thanksgiving is almost a month away, but I am so thankful for you all and these boards!!! I think I'm going to send Pete Werner an email.

Oh, by the way - where do you think we should eat???
So far we have planned for Boma and Princess Storybook at Akershus (not sure which meal, probably dinner).
We are not going to DHS. Just AK, Epcot and MK.
TIA!!

Have a great halloween!!!

Sheree, you are SO right!! This group is amazing and I can't even imagine how my trips would be without everything I have learned from you all. Not to mention that this group is NICE!!! It's so frustrating seeing the negativity on some of the other topics or groups (not just the Dis, when we were planning our cruise this past summer, the board I was on got so hateful at times). I just LOVE you guys!! :grouphug:

As far as where to eat...SO many possibilities! We're so stuck on some of our favorites (Ohana, Cali Grill, Biergarten), Andy says are "tradition" and refuses to even discuss anywhere else. I think we often pick our places more on memories we made there rather than the food. Is that silly? Like our last trip, it was probably 5pm, we were near UK at Epcot and wanted to get the fish and chips. It was a nice breezy 75 degrees, both kids were asleep in the stroller, the park was practically empty, and Andy and I sat on the curb eating and relaxing...so now we have to go there next trip (not a TS meal, but that's how we pick our places). So, what are some places that are especially special to your family?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN SNOWBIRDS

So I had my first crazy disney dream... yep over 2 months out and they've started... for some reason when we arrived at WDW we were placed at AKL - Kidani, and my daughter (11 yo) asked if we could be moved to Jambo house, They said they would see what they could do. Now Jambo house had been refurbed through out, there were out of the way splash pads and interactive areas with the animals, the gorilla exhibit was flush with the childrens treehouse and swing set:confused3, and in with the gorillas was a wombat :confused3. Anyhow as we wait for our room to be ready we explore all these things. The pool had been extended and you could swim out to a sandy island, with a gold bar, it reminded me of dubai the way it was viewed from he top level viewing deck. We find out our room is ready by a personal attendant, however we are then told our room at CBR is now availble:confused3, so we all sat down and tried to decide which resort to stay in. Then I woke up:confused: I wonder what this means:scared:

What an interesting dream...

Happy Halloween Birdies!! What are all the kids dressing up as?

We are in the early stages of planning for our next Disney Trip! Dec. 2-10 2011. I've actually already had the OK from my boss too! We are going with another family that has never been there before. So my mother decided to start her countdown, right around 400 days :rotfl:. Gotta love it!

Drakes - I think your dream means you are undecided about your resort... and should stay at AKL Jambo , in March , when I am there! HA! I would love to see some gorillas from a treehouse (farther away though - they're a little scary)

Jenny - what a sweet memory about the UK!
I don't have too many that we "have" to go to, I just like so many places, it's hard to decide! Plus I always like to try new ones.
I did go ahead and book ADRs for Boma dinner the arrival night and Tusker House breakfast the next morning.

For Halloween - Sarah is going as a vampire (again) and Paige is a hippie. :hippie: Last night at the school dance she wore her Mickey Tye-Dye shirt we made at BC last summer. Tonight she will wear mine - she can put it over warmer clothes!

BTW - at the dance - I could NOT believe how many little star wars characters there were! I wasn't aware that the kids were so into it! Is it because there are kid versions of star wars shows out there on tv? I have girls - they are completely unaware. Although one night we watched the "new" first episode movie (whose name I can't remember) with them. They were "eh" about it. Kind of interested, but never asked to watch it again.
Now, The Blind Side, that's another story.
Paige wants to watch that a lot. Of course, I didn't think to "edit" toward the end at the part where they drop him off at college and the mom says,
"If you get a girl pregnant I will come up here and cut off your P***S."

GULP. :rolleyes1

Of course, Paige comes over to me, giggling and says, "Mom, what's a P***S? OH MY GOSH!!!!
I guess I thought she already knew the name, so I had to explain a bit. I thought I'd die laughing afterwards!!
Then, Grandma was babysitting a few nights later and Paige says to her, "Grandma I know what a P***S is!" My mom just about spit!
More explanation was necessary about how we don't just go around yapping about private parts!

Ok.... More news...

Today is the day we're telling dd we're going to WDW. DH bought a cake at the bakery with all the princesses on and they wrote "We're Going to Disney" on it  I am so excited! This is a good plan, and easy no fuss, they baked it , all we do is serve it!

Also thanks to Meghan and her discussion of her Dream Job, I have taken the plunge and followed in her risky footsteps! I have applied for 2 jobs as a travel consultant  I just clicked enter and sent in my resume!

My family doesn't even know... I think I am crazy! :scared1:

Wish me luck :upsidedow
