~Snowbird Chat 2~

I should have become a travel agent! I get so many people asking me for tips and information. Maybe it's not too late! I might be asking some of you for info later on… I think I know of at least 10 DISers who are TAs too!

I've thought about it to, but I don't think it would be a good fit for me, considering that part of the reason I like having a TA for our trips is because I hate making phone calls....even calling Disney is hard for me.

Well you may not like this job then!! Lots of phone calls for sure! And if you get clients that make lots of changes, more phone time!

Yes! LOTS of phone calls!!! It can be very time consuming, depending on the client and the situation. Some just want you to book the trip and then be left alone. Others want you to go through EVERYTHING from parks, to dining to the locations of restrooms. ;) It's a great job if you have the time to devote to it. :)

Yeah. Probably not a good fit.
I do need to figure out a job that I would enjoy doing though. This LO may end up being our last, and I'll probably want to at least pick something up part time once she starts school.

I love talking to the CM's on the phone! When we call the TA line, we talk to CM's who JUST talk to TA's! I learned that when I toured the reservation center in 2012.....coolest call center ever!

I am in a few TA groups on Facebook and SO many of them are DISers (or used to be). I think there are a handful of us at my own agency.

I told Mike yesterday that being a CM in the call centers is on my list of dream jobs. I would love love love that!! I enjoyed visiting with all of them!

You would love it! Live video feeds of the parks, amazing cafeteria, unique "phone" name (I spoke with Wellington yesterday)...just the coolest place ever. Not to mention the CM discount...they even have a shop just for the CM's that work there! Everyone we met was so happy to be there and I wanted to steal all of the pictures off the walls.

I have founds that the CM's on the TA line are much more friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful than the regular line CM's. Thank goodness, because that's who I talk to ALL THE TIME!! Well them, and the Group Sale's CM's, they are great too!

So, I am approaching my one year mark of becoming a TA. I have booked 77 trips so far!!! :cool1: Not bad for my first year!! 43 of them are going in August. Not surprising with the amazing deal we are offering our clients then!! :yay:

43 in August! That's crazy! You better treat your self to an AMAZING trip after all of that! :cool1:

WOW! That is crazy! I have a friend who works at a different agency and was also a DISer. We finally got to meet in person at the Earmarked Conf in Sept. She had 41 trips booked for October!!! I couldn't believe it! I had 11 for this past October and thought that was a lot.

It is crazy!!! :faint: :yay: I've been SO busy since about Christmas!!

I will be treating myself to a trip - in August!! :cool1: Can't pass up our super low August rates, plus our agency is offering a private Frozen dining event in Norway on August 23 for our agents and clients. It's going to be awesome! :goodvibes

Okay girls..we decided!! Wilderness Lodge will be the site of our 20th Anni~moon!! Cute word, huh?! Anniversary/honeymoon #2!! Our honeymoon was about a 3 hour drive from here and we stayed in the sweetest little bed & breakfast in a cutesy little town. Thank the Lord there wasn't too much going on around there because we were SO broke we couldn't have afforded to do anything! LOL!! But, it was a sweet romantic time that I wouldn't trade for anything. We could never have afforded Disney (or anything else for that matter)…then at our 10 year, I had 3 babies:1, 4 1/2, and 8. And I still couldn't afford to go anywhere! LOL!! And then I couldn't have left my kids for long anyway…so we went to the B&B of our Honeymoon and spent one night there and my mom kept the kids at a hotel in the next town over! It was great too!! But we are really looking forward to this trip!!! We have a SUPER busy 2014 and we need to be able to just slow down and really relax.
We looked at several different places in the US and just thought everything was going to take so much looking into, planning, and research~then go, go, go once we got there. Disney is like your Best Friend! You can go 'home' and just BE!! We have dinners for each day planned, and a few FP, but other than that we may just hang out at the WL and not do much else. I am looking forward to seeing Disney this way~ I never thought I would be able to do it like this… but, without kids it is a whole different mindset.

How wonderful! You will have a blast!

Tony and I went to Toronto for our honeymoon. It was nice...we went to a playoff hockey game, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the science museum....we were young! We went to Niagara Falls, ONT for our 1, 2, 3 and 4 year anniversaries for a nice weekend. The first 2 years we went alone and the 2nd 2 years we went with another couple. I always wanted to go to Hawaii for our 10 year anniversary, but that didn't happen! We went to WDW with the kiddos!

I'm glad it's booked, sister! :cool1: I can't wait to hear your plans! Now it's time to make your little ticker.;)

I predict a couples trip to Aulani one day! Let's start saving for those plane tickets. Haha!

Crossing my fingers that I will get to book out trip this week!

Me too!! I think we should definitely do that Aulani trip together…you know my little DD would love to hang out with your girls on the beach!!! I hope you can book by Friday…I know you are so ready!

Congrats Shawna! Sounds like a perfect trip! Dave and I look forward to the day we travel without the girls and fully intend to take advantage of our DVC and hit WDW and Aulani! We'll take them with us for the time being I guess!

A little over 2 weeks and we're on our way to DL! I'm woefully unorganized. I do have a list and a schedule. I need to check out the park maps etc more.

I am seriously considering joining the TA ranks. I do need to keep my FT job for the time being, but think I will get started looking into it. So many people have asked me about it! I'm in the information gathering stage now. Any tips or advice is welcome - PM if you want!

OK - got to fly!

I have really enjoyed my 2 very short solo trips to WDW. It lets you see the parks in a whole new way! On my last Sept trip, I really missed my family though. Being in a MK view room at the CR all alone just wasn't right! I was really wishing that my family could have been with me. So spoiled to have a room like that all to yourself.

Yay for DLR!!!! My friends went last year and their girls had a blast.

Another big YAY for thinking about becoming a TA. Best job ever! So many of the agents at my agency work full time...they just create schedules that work best for them. Since I'm home during the day, I focus on work "stuff" between9am and 3pm. I try really hard to not work outside those hours but I make exceptions all the time...lots of people work and can talk during those hours.
