~Snowbird Chat 2~

Shakey~ Glad you are ok…God definitely protected y'all from a possible disaster.

Thank you! We were definitely protected that day, there is no question about it. I've never been so terrified in my life. The parents of my charges were outstanding and knew right from the get go it wasn't my fault. The man refuses to accept responsibility for it, and is trying his darndest to pin all of it on me.

Although the witnesses scattered before the police came, they all said they were on my side. The insurance has said that from what they've seen and from the damages on my car, there is no doubt that he had no intention of stopping, whatsoever.

Just a little flyby to say hi!

Shakey - glad you're okay! Scary stuff!

Shawna - congrats on the move! Hope BabyR is doing better! Praying for him, his family and doctors.

Hi BellaSoleil!! Nice to "see" you here!

Becca - hope you can figure out a trip soon! I congratulate any of you who can manage a military life. Certainly isn't for me. Thank you!

Hope that's everyone!

Logan told me the other day that I can have our tax return for our trip. I just laughed. I honestly don't think he has any idea how much our trips usually end up costing, and since our next trip is supposed to be a bit of a splurge, the tax return will only cover about half of it.
I also told him that we probably won't be able to go this year anyways. He was a little taken aback.

ETA: I will say that the good thing about the military thing is that no one can reasonably get upset with me if I choose to take my kid(s) out of school for a family vacation before/after Logan ends up deploying. The only issue is the timing, but I think we could handle the warmer temps if we had to.

I know that had to be so scary! People drive crazier all the time!!
Sheree~Thanks for continuing to pray for our sweet friends~unless they heard some not-so-good news from their team of Docs yesterday, they were suppose to come home..haven't heard from her so not sure if they did or not…when I hear something I will post it.

Well..we are trying to get settled….I have a whole area of stuff that goes to our office to store until we have a garage sale..and a stack of stuff upstairs that goes into the attic. My goal was to have it all finished Sat evening, but that didn't happen. I had hurt my neck last week in the move and it just hasn't had time to completely heal~and just about the time it eases up I move a box or furniture…SO..I have decided to just wait and move things when Mike or the boys are home in the afternoons and do what I can around it…I like to do it ASAP and my body is telling me that I can't this time. I did this a few years back and ended up at the chiro before it got better. I think today I will let it rest~it hurts too bad not to!

Waiting is a good idea. I definitely understand wanting to get it done, but every time I work too hard on our unpacking, I'm out of commission pretty much the whole next day. I've basically consigned myself to the boxes still being around until after the baby is born. I've decided that I'm going to initiate a rule, everyone who wants to hold the baby has to unpack a box for every 15 minutes of baby snuggle time they want.
I don't think we're going to get too many visitors this time though. Since my brother and BIL are both getting married in April, I think a lot of the people who may have considered dropping by will probably think that they can just wait until then.

Good Plan Becca!! Make them earn it! LOL!! Tell me again how long you have left~

March 4th is my due date, but I have February 28th in my head for some reason.

So, I've been running the numbers, and if the military room discount keeps being lucrative, they don't look too bad.
More than what we've ever spent on a trip, but I expected as much with having to pay for G, and the prices going up.
I also want to plan for longer than our last few trips, which means no military salute tickets.

My Disney planning bug is really starting to make me itch.
I'd really love it if I could plan a trip for this year sometime between October and December (before that just isn't possible) or January/February next year, but we likely won't know what Logan's schedule will allow until October.
It's possible that he won't actually be free until April again, and since I like to avoid the warmer months, it may put the trip in fall of 2015. Also, since in his 4 1/2 years of active duty military service (will be 6 years by the time we're done here) he has never deployed, he's probably going to be first on their list to do so.
I suppose I may have to consign myself to April again, unless I want to do the summer, or possibly have to wait 3 years from now before our next trip.
I can't imagine not taking this baby to Disney until she's almost 3 years old!

I don't think Logan would be very happy with me going to Disney without him, especially if I took the kids.

I guess I just need to be patient and see what happens.
I'm also going to have to start considering G's school schedule, since he'll start kindergarten Fall 2015.

I've got it, too! I'm jumping on the 'will we or won't we' train with you. I'm hoping for October of 2014 or January of 2015. It is so much more when you start adding more children. We will officially be paying for a family of four when we go this time. Our littlest will still be free. Hoping to be able to pay my mom's way, as well. She is so good to us and I want to treat her to a trip with her grand-babies.

Hi Snowbirds

Just got back from our WL stay last Thursday. Can't really say it was our best trip or that we loved the WL, but we had a good time. Last Tuesday it was sunny and 80 degrees down there!! :goodvibes It was an awesome day! :cool1: Hoping to start my TR soon. :)

Now we are supposed to get another snow storm tonight. I'm so over winter!!! :crazy2:

So, I am working on our August WDW plans! :yay: Less than 3 weeks until ADR's. :thumbsup2

Soleil~love your new avatar!!!!
Shelly~oh no! I hate you didn't like the WL!!!! I can't believe it's already time for you to plan things for the next trip!!!

Shelly- Tell us more about your thoughts on WL. Did you stay CL? I am so intrigued. (And hello again!)

Hi there

The WL was okay. It's definitely a beautiful place. We booked standard view since it was such a short trip and knew we could be overlooking a service area, but never dreamed it would be that bad. Disney is always so good about covering up ugly things, but definitely not there. :sad2: We were overlooking the service area, huge humming power boxes, trucks, garbage, and some kind of bubbling mud pit. :confused3 Everyday on average at about 5:30am we were woke up by BEEP BEEP BEEP from the trucks backing up. It was ridiculous. :faint: Not to mention the day and a half with no hot water. :scared1:

So yeah, not our best Disney experience by far. We still had a great time at the parks and the kids were able to swim one day!

I just figured out that the Master's program Logan will likely be starting begins the Monday after his officer's training is over in October, and there are no breaks, except for holidays, until May (they don't even break for the holidays until December 20th and go back on January 6th) It may be possible for him to do a term entirely online, so I may make him look into that. We could make the trip extra long, so he could have plenty of down time to work on his classes!

I really want to be able to take each of my parents to Disney at some point. We took my baby sister last year, and that was really helpful. G LOVED the extra attention, and he keeps saying that he wants "to ride the train to Disney World with Gaga."

Good to know about the standard view. I've heard things... I'll have to try for at least the Woods View.
Right now, my planning spreadsheet has Wilderness Lodge (standard or courtyard) Yacht Club (standard) Polynesian (standard) and Animal Kingdom Lodge (Concierge Level -because I figure if we stay there again, it needs to be slightly different).

That stinks, Shelly!

I hate that you had a bad experience there. Sounds like it really is worth the money to upgrade at WL!

At least the parks didn't disappoint.

For us, we have had Wood view at the WL, standard view at the Poly~one year we had a view of the monorail going by and the next time it was over the service area…it wasn't bad except for when the workers took smoke breaks! LOL!! It drifted riiiiight up to our balcony! And we have standard view most of the time at the BC..it's fine~ never had an issue there..

Here was our WL standard view:

We could have dealt with the bad view, it was all the noise that did us in! :faint:
