~Snowbird Chat 2~

Not sure if you meant me or the other Shelly, but I haven't stayed there yet. But I will someday! The rooms look very nice, the location is great, and they have awesome pools and lots of restaurants. The only downside I can see is that you can't use ME. You can however use the park buses. The other things like no DDP and no charging to the room and no delivery of merchandise from the park to the room don't bother me because we don't use them anyway!

I say if the price is right -- go for it! :cool1:

yeah! I meant you! LOL!! I guess y'all just ate there one night...but I thought you stayed for one night, but I think I was thinking of Sheree.... Haven't talked to Mike about it yet, but the last two years we got offered FD and not any room discounts for our week....I will probably not do DDP this year because DD will turn 10 this April and she can NOT eat a whole adult meal... I usually don't either. She and I could split an entree after a soup or salad or whatever...and I am gonna pretty much pay for places like the Biergarten one way or the other...and if we ever do Club Level again, we loved having the breakfast options and the midday snax on days we came back. And then they preferred the milk and cookies to most of the desserts anyway...just knowing that my time to book will creep up on me before I know it and I want to make sure I am spending my $$ wisely!!!! I asked him today about taking the kids to California for Spring Break or early summer and he said no way jose....he has been and doesn't care to go back.. I have never really cared to go, but I know there are things there the kids might enjoy seeing...we are leaning more toward West Virgina, North Carolina, Penn,. some of those places if we don't do Disney....

We spent one night at the Swan when we drove down in December 09 and got there a day early (driving straight through was not planned).
I loved it - it was a nice big room, super comfy beds and the location for being near Epcot, Boardwalk and DHS is great. I think we had breakfast at Picabu at the Dolphin and it was really good. I just did the scrapbook from that trip this weekend!

Since I don't care about DDP, I'd stay there. Do they get Magical Express? I can't remember. A lot of the restaurants at those two hotels get good reviews - Il Mulino, Shula's, Bluezoo...

They don't get ME, it's usually through MEARS. The time I stayed, I got put on ME, as my connecting flight had been delayed by an hour, and when I finally did get there, they'd overfilled the van, so off I went on ME.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to pop on and say hello.

Kim- Let me know which characters Andrew and Emily like. I have a bunch of lanyards and I can include them with your Mickey Mail! :)

I have bought pins on Ebay many times and they have always been great. Madison usually keeps a few that she likes and then the rest are for trading. We have a ton of fun pin trading!

Awww Meghan you're too sweet!!!! Emily loves anything Princesses or Fairies. She's not picky! Andrew is into Star Wars now. I miss his Lightning McQueen and Mickey Mouse days! :sad1:
We just got the 2013 planning dvd in the mail today and I can't wait to watch it! I'm so excited to see the new Fantasyland! Em had dance class tonight so it was too late to watch it when we got home. I told them we would watch it for Valentine's Day tomorrow!

I vote for an East Coast trip if you're not going back to Disney! :thumbsup2 We'll meet you in Philly or in Virginia at Luray Caverns or at the Outer Banks of NC!
We decided against the dining plan this trip too. I felt like we wasted so much food last trip. Andrew eats like a bird and is soooo picky. I could literally pack a loaf of bread and some PB and the boy would be happy for the week.

ok girlie! If we don't do Disney I will expect this! LOL!! I am always leaning more toward East Coast vacas when I am off the Disney radar...we just always cave and go back! :rotfl:

So last night I was with my best friend and her husband when the say the plan to take the kids to Disney World in 3 years. They are penny pinchers and definately live on a budget, so they know it will be enough time for them to save up, and also the youngest at that point would be 4 yrs. So they then asked if I would "escort" them! Jared says he won't go unless I go because I know the ins and outs. He also says he doesn't want to be beaten for taken the kids for the first time without me!

So let the planning begin!! And saving! I'm going to make each kid a piggy bank that says "Disney Fund" on it. I'm so excited!

Never done Disney World with young kids! Ahh!!!

That's awesome! I wish someone would ask me to do that!!!:thumbsup2

No Kidding! Most people just want to know what resorts we liked!:rotfl: They don't always take my advice on the best times to travel...and that is more important to me...who cares if your room is great if you are miserable at the parks all day cuz you picked crowd level 10?!! I think you will have a great time Red and make memories with the little chickadees they will never forget!

Well, I've finally decided to cancel my Bermuda cruise. Not because of the Triumph problems, and we had a great time on Princess two weeks ago. But they're rebuilding the docks in Bermuda, and there's a possibility that we might have to tender (take the little boats) between the boat docked in the harbor and the land. I really don't want to have to deal with that, especially while traveling with my elderly aunt. So it'll have to wait until next year. Oh, well.

At least the Disney trip is still on for September!

Sorry about your cruise. That stinks! :headache:, But yes, at least you still have Disney to look forward to! :goodvibes

Sorry you had to cancel~but that was probably for the best if your aunt was going to have to go through that...And Disney is always a good Balm for what Ails Ya!! LOL!!! We had some friends on the cruise ship! I haven't talked to them about it yet, but they were at church Sunday and Pastor gave them a shout out...it was a cruise they had planned for their 22 Anniversary!

Trying to make ADR's right now............ Stupid new WDW site will only let me make them for my first day. It's not recognizing the 180+10. I went to the dining boards here and apparently it has been happening to everyone. :sad2: Guess I'll have to wait and call at 7:00. Kind of hard when I've got to get the kids on the bus at 7:15. People are reporting waiting over an hour just to talk to someone.... :furious:

You'll be fine. Most kids are pretty easy as long as you don't push them too much. If you act really excited about something, then they'll think it's exciting.

I know! My friends won't even take my advice about staying on the property most of the time.

Bummer.

That is frustrating. I hope you were able to get what you want!

I'm having the hardest time planning for this trip. I think it's all the FP+ stuff...I just can't make up my mind on anything. I'm so worried we're going to get there and they're still going to be working out the kinks.:sad2:

seems like this new system is not being very user friendly!! And I do not think I like the new Fast Pass plus thing, or whatever its called...it's just becoming harder and harder to have a spontaneous trip there...And you all know how I loooove planning!! I just think that if you have to plan every single step it isn't as fun or magical...maybe we will try it and love it,..who knows.

I have some hopes for it, but many others think it will overload the FP system.

Ultimately, we can always count on the people who hate planning to not plan, which means even if you're willing to book a week out, you'll probably be fine.
It all will be determined in time.
I do hope there's something going on now that will be drastically changed in the coming weeks, because I've heard awful things about the Standby wait times. I do agree that a single FP to Toy Story won't make me any happier about waiting in line for over an hour at RnRC, when in the past I could FP both.

I'm starting to think it's a good thing that I don't have plans to go back to WDW for a while. Maybe they can work all the kinks out in the next year! We toyed with the idea of a new years trip, but I'm a little conflicted. Lots of DVC points are needed, plus it's crowded, but it is so festive... Probably won't happen.

In just over 2 weeks we're headed to Hilton Head! I've done NOTHING. Dave has made most of the plans/arrangements. I have a list of places I want to go, and that's it. I guess it's going to be relaxing!

I don't know if I'll ever be able to justify going over New Year's again. I toyed with the idea this year, because my brother went with band, but it just didn't make any sense. I feel bad for him though, because I think they were only given the opportunity to get to Rope Drop once. He said the lines were AWFUL.
He actually went to see a movie with his friends while they were at Universal, because it was the only thing that didn't have a ridiculous line.
I told him he should just save the money the trip cost and go with me at some point, because it would be so much better. He didn't want to though.

I'm thinking that if we do go then again, we'll have to plan way in advance, so we can stay at Shades of Green.

I don't think FP+ will be anywhere near as complicated once it's fully applied. I think right now the biggest problem is that they're running both systems alongside one another, and they don't know enough about the new system to adjust the numbers accordingly.

Apparently the new WDW site does not recognize the 180+10 days....:sad2: So it only let me make an ADR for my first day. So basically I got up at 5:45am for nothing. :faint: Had to wait until 7am to call. Luckily I only had to hold for about 10-15 minutes. I read on here that with the number of calls they are getting at 7am everyday because of the website not working correctly that people have had to hold until 8-8:30 just to talk to an agent. :scared1: Glad that didn't happen to me because I ended up getting called into work when I was making my ADR's!! Yes, it was a super crazy morning here! :crazy2:

Sheree...hope you have a great, relaxing and fun vacation!! If I could talk Mike into something fabulous this year, I would skip Disney~I want the Mine Cart finished! LOL!!!! But..I have a couple of people around here asking when we are going back...Now WHO has brainwashed these little munchkins I 'ld like to know?!!
